Pickpick

All I can say is this is quite a twist from the original story of Dracula. If you‘re a fan of Bram Stoker, you really need to read this book.

London, 1912. A quarter of a century after Count Dracula “crumbled into dust,” Quincey Harker—the son of Jonathan and Mina Harker—leaves law school to pursue a career on stage, only to stumble upon the troubled production of Dracula, directed and produced by Bram Stoker himself. As the play plunges Quincey into the world of his parents' terrible secrets, death begins to stalk the original band of heroes that defeated Dracula a quarter-century ago.

Starting this today!

xxjenadanxx I've seen him speak about Bram before. Interesting guy! 5y
Author_Chelsea_Warren_PA @xxjenadanxx I wouldn't mind listening to him give a lecture about Bram. I'd find it fascinating! 😊 5y
xxjenadanxx I saw him at a convention and it seemed like he could have gone on talking forever! Maybe he will speak near you sometime! 5y
Author_Chelsea_Warren_PA @xxjenadanxx I sure hope he does! I'd gladly pay to hear him speak! 😊 5y

This book was wearing on my patience until it got to the crazy inspector testing his theories while the other detectives appear to be taking the crime scene more seriously. It doesn‘t take a genius to figure out he will be proved right. But his escapades are hilarious and incomprehensible until he explains why.

Texreader @Books_Bikes_12 ❤️❤️❤️ Keepin‘ it going! I love this song and so happy I‘m not the only one who still sings the lyrics @GingerAntics (edited) 6y
GingerAntics @Texreader I guess I didn‘t really know it was a theme song. lol I just thought it was a rock song. lol 6y
Texreader @GingerAntics It was the Coca Cola theme song back in the 1970s. I loved Coke and the song as a kid and have loved the song ever since (not so much Coke anymore). 6y
GingerAntics @Texreader I think I‘ve seen a remake of one of those commercials. It was a couple years back for the super bowl I think. 6y

I used to read Dracula or The Historian, two all-time faves, every October but this year opted for Time‘s Convert. But when the first chapters included spoilers from the All Souls Trilogy, which I haven‘t finished yet I put it down in favor of this one. I‘ve read Dracula so many times I think I can give this a go without a reread of the original. So here goes! And I love the spine and the cover!

#lyricalapril #themonster This book has been on my self, unread, for an embarrassing amount of time. Actually, since before Waldenbooks went out of business ....

Cinfhen WaldenBooks...wow!!! You just took it wayyyyy back 😍😍😍😍I haven't read this one ,either 🙈 8y
BethM @Cinfhen right?! And ours (in little old central WI even) was one of the last to close, and it has to be gone for close to 10 years. Im so glad we got a Books A Million 3years ago! 8y
Cinfhen No books a million where I live 😩 8y

BethM @Cinfhen do you have a Barnes and Noble or something else? 8y
Cinfhen Yes, a Barnes and Noble & some nice indies but they are all expensive, so I try to use the library 😃 8y
BethM @Cinfhen so true! We don't have B&N, half price books, or indies :( I blend between buying, library, and our library has a store that they sell old library books. 8y
Cinfhen And there's ALWAYS online shopping 💸💸💸 8y

I chose this book as my #ScaryRead because I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it & because I haven't heard many people talk about it. When you think Dracula sequel you think oh no 🙈 but I loved it and thought the authors did a great job of continuing the story and in such a believable way. Hope some of you will give it a try. #AllHallowsRead

Dracula is my favorite #classicmoviemonster. I haven't read this one yet, but it looks good. #octphotochallenge

BookishFeminist I love the cover! 8y
DiruVamp I've seen this and am very curious to hear what you think. I'm still undecided. 8y
Texreader @BookishFeminist I think the cover is what convinced me to buy this one. It must be good, right? 8y

Texreader @DiruVamp I'll have to let you know. I bought it on curb appeal so we will have to see. I'm a Dracula purist so I like Stoker and Kostova's The Historian. I'm not inclined to go too far afield. 8y
DiruVamp @Texreader I feel the same way! 8y
LibrarianRyan An interesting retellings from a different characters point of view is 8y
