Well it only took me a few days, most of this I read while sitting on the beach soaking up the sun. As always I was not disappointed. This was the last book written by L. frank Baum, just 3 months before he passed away. It brought so many of his amazing characters into play. There are many Oz books written by other people and I‘m sure I‘ll read them one day. #LFrankBaum #LandofOz #Vacay #BeachBook #bestWayToRelax

The last Oz book by L. Frank Baum. I‘m so excited to finish this series. This is 14th book and it‘s probably taken me over 20yrs to finish it, lol. This is also the 18th book for me to read this year, my goal was 15😀 #LFrankBaum #Oz #SurpassingGoals #LandofOz #ReadingIsMyDrug

BookmarkTavern Congrats on your goal! I love this one. ❤️ 4y
Cruble88 @ozma.of.oz I am so happy and sad at the same time. The note from the publisher made me cry , “he went away to take his stories to the little child-souls who had lived here too long ago to read the Oz stories for themselves.” And I believe it. 4y

This was Baum‘s final Oz book, published posthumously, and though the Oz adventures continued I‘ve decided to end my #OzReread here.

I‘m honestly not sure if I read this one as a kid. I remember the island with the glass dome & that‘s it. It was solid. Ozma & Dorothy end up in trouble when they head off to a forgotten corner of Oz to stop a war between the Flatheads & the Skeezers. Glinda & the rest of the regulars have to bail them out.

rubyslippersreads Great collection! I need to reread the Oz books. 7y
callunakeep I re-read all the Oz books in order and back to back a few years ago and really enjoyed them; it was amazing how much I had forgotten since third grade! 😂🤣 7y

Here Glinda provides an extremely accurate description of the story thus far.

Don‘t ever stop being weird, Oz.

#OzReread

Bradleygirl 😁 one of the things I love the most about the Oz stories is Baum never trying for typical fairy tale names, or even vaguely European ones. American fantasy with unapologetically gibberish made-up names, kthxbai 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk There is something quintessentially American about Oz in general, now that you mention it. 7y

L. Frank Baum wrote 14 books in the Oz #fantasy series, and the ones with the white edging/spines above are the ones I had as a kid. I loved poring over the art noveau style illustrations, too!

It‘s also a #fantasy of mine to fill out the set, but I haven‘t really made it a priority 🤔.

Bradleygirl Oh those are the absolute best. Those illustrations! 7y
Lizpixie I have been dreaming about adding the whole set to my collection. These are the editions I first read too, my local library had the whole set.💛💚 7y
Lizpixie My favourites were Ozma Of Oz & Tik Tok Of Oz. 7y

Reviewsbylola Wow, I had no idea there were 14! 7y
ValerieAndBooks @Bradleygirl the illustrations are what make the books so good 💖 7y
ValerieAndBooks @Lizpixie 😊 I think a visit to eBay may be in order...at least to get an idea of what they‘re asking for them! 7y
ValerieAndBooks @Lizpixie I loved Ozma, too!! 7y
ValerieAndBooks @Reviewsbylola Yes, and then someone continued the series after Baum died, so one might say there‘s more than 14! 7y

The final Oz book by Baum was published posthumously, and it is preceded by a note explaining to his legions of kid fans that

“In May, nineteen hundred nineteen, he went away to take his stories to the little child-souls who had lived here too long ago to read the Oz stories for themselves.”

While I do not envy the publishers this job, essentially saying he is now sharing Oz with everyone that died before 1900 gives me the heebie jeebies.

theresidentromantic Not a fan of Oz myself, but wouldn't it have been easier to say he belonged back in Oz? I feel like time travel was not the obvious choice here? 7y

After reading 45 pages of this I have just realized to my gut-churning horror that I should have started The Magic of Oz instead of this one. I jumped the queue! Easily set right, I suppose, especially in the continuity-light land of Oz, but still I HATE reading things out of order. Going to get Book 13 out of my closet this second.

ferskner I had this copy as a kid! Wow, it brings back memories. 7y

TobeyTheScavengerMonk @ferskner I had the whole set when I was a kid, mostly purchased from the rotating wire rack of books at the grocery store! They are all scattered to the winds now, so when I decided I wanted to reread the series I made sure to track down these exact editions. 7y

In #third grade our teacher Mrs. Mize read the Oz books to us after lunch every day. This was the last book of the original Oz series which was later continued by other authors. You can read Glinda on google reads.
