1st time reading this author. The pace of it at 1st is pretty slow. It took me a while to get into it. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed it. I think all who deal with this issue, & their families should read it. I don't think it's a trigger. Not graphic at all. It's about how she feels & how she copes. How the author develops the protagonist, portrays to perfection the pace & mood of the majority who endure such a practice. It deserves a read!

BehindthePages It's been a long while since I read this. I think it's time for a re read. 4y

This was a quick read that got me through the snowstorm. 🌨️❄️☃️ I have mixed feelings about this novel, but I disagree with a lot of the negative reception on it. This is a book with a simple but good storyline and a very important message in overcoming self-harm. The many underwhelming parts come from the lots of moments that could've been better developed and set forth

Gonna read this one as I flip through Monsters of Men! Let's see how this one attacks the very important subject matter of self-harm. I'll let you know my thoughts as soon as I finish! 📚

Read this a few years ago, still stands out in my memory. Very well written.

I'm in the mood for mental illness books on audio. Maybe it'll help, maybe not. maybe it'll be a trigger. Hope not. My teacher recommended this to me in high school but I never got the chance to read it. I forgot about it. until now.

Wow, I‘m really enjoying this little gem. Well, as much as one can enjoy a story about a girl who cuts herself... it‘s very well written though! It‘s giving me feelings. 💔

#Sharp #AndItsAugust One of my former students recommended this book to me, but I haven't gotten the chance to read it yet. I've read and enjoyed McCormick's Sold, so I think I would like this one. @RealLifeReading

Callie cuts herself. Never too deep, never enough to die. But enough to feel the pain. Enough to feel the scream inside.
Now she's at Sea Pines, a "residential treatment facility" filled with girls struggling with problems of their own. Callie doesn't want to have anything to do with them. She doesn't want to have anything to do with anyone. She won't even speak.
