College freshmen Seth and Diana volunteer in an emergency room to learn how to save lives-and along the way, they learn to live Seth volunteers at City Hospital to get first-hand experience with emergency medicine-and get comfortable with blood and trauma before attending medical school, so he'll have an edge over the competition. Diana volunteers in the inner-city ER to save the world, one patient at a time. If she gets to show up arrogant Seth too, so much the better. The one thing these two college freshmen share is a desire to be a part of the ER's action. Tonight, hour by hour and minute by minute, they will get their wish as they confront a student with a gunshot wound, the victim of a gruesome motorcycle accident, and a kidnapping gone horribly awry. Their adrenaline-fueled night will alter the course of Seth and Diana's lives-and the lives of everyone in the emergency room-forever. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Caroline B. Finished “24/7/365: The Evolution of Emergency Medicine” and learned quite a bit in an hour. John Mills, MD convinced 3 of his colleagues to began the first 24/7 emergency room staffed by dedicated ER physicians although emergency medicine wouldn‘t be a board certified specialty until 1979. It was full of interviews of the pioneering men and women who helped establish emergency medicine. Worth a watch and free for Amazon prime members. #nfnov

It wasn't really necessary, but people at work insisted that I go to the ER this morning. I had a really severe nose bleed. This also happened to me about 25 years ago, and I thought it was a thing of the past. I appreciate all the help from the women at work who took care of me! Here are two of my helpers, celebrating my birthday with me last week.

BookishMarginalia Hope you are well! 5y

Books follow me, I swear. I was at the ER (again) last night, not for me but for a family member (a different one)((and she‘s fine and home and sleeping now))...but while I was there I walked past the main entrance to hit the soda machines around midnight, and look 👀 they were set up for a book sale! LOL too bad it was the middle of the night.🤷‍♀️. But still, funny coincidence and I‘m adding it to my #ERBooks lists.

knittedgnome So funny! You don't even have to look for books! 6y

I‘m spending yet another evening in another ER. (It‘s my Aunt and I‘m thinking the flu, so don‘t worry, nothing too serious).... but anyway, I seem to be making a tour of the local ER‘s lately, starting way back around Thanksgiving, and this is the 1st without the little shelf of books for people waiting. It was such a surprise when I first saw one, and then saw it repeated multiple places, now I‘m finding it‘s absence disappointing. 😕

LeahBergen Yikes! 6y
Lreads My sympathies. You're a good person to be there for others in need. 💙 6y

readordierachel Oh no! Hope she feels better soon. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @QuietlyLaura oh my, I wouldn‘t go that far, LOL. I‘m just in the position of being both the oldest child, and the oldest grandchild on both sides of my family....so sadly as my family grows older and ages, not only do I need to go, but often I need to take others who can‘t drive anymore or can‘t drive after dark anymore, etc. It could always be worse.... the day I don‘t get those calls anymore will be a sad and lonely day. 6y
Lreads I still think you're a good and kind person to go where you're needed. Some people are selfish and actively avoid helping others. Your Litsy fam is here for you! 6y
JazzFeathers Hooefully everything turns up ok. I'm also heading to the hospital this morning for my dad's visit. Just a check up. 6y
Rudis I hope your aunt feels better soon! ❤️ 6y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @JazzFeathers I‘m glad it‘s just a check-up, I hope everything turned out well. 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Rudis @rustoryhuf @Mdargusch @Redwritinghood @4thhouseontheleft @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @ghosthost They released her around 4am that day, she came to my house and slept before going back for her car in the morning and driving home. She still isn‘t feeling great, but she‘s ok, and hopefully it‘s nothing sleep and rest won‘t cure. Thank you so much for your well wishes! 6y
Megabooks I hope she‘s continuing to improve!! 6y

Another ER, a different family member (thank goodness) ((and yes they will also be fine))

But while I‘m here, here‘s another edition to shelves of free books found at hospitals edition.

Sadly this is becoming a thing, so I might as well start a photo collection 🤷‍♀️

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Sorry you have to be at the ER, and glad everything will be ok. Nice hospital to support the books! 👍 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled It‘s my Second ER in 2 months (the past was Christmas Eve) and this is the second time I‘ve seen one. I think it was a very nice idea. 6y

What a great idea for a hospital waiting room, pick up a used book of your choice for a small donation to the hospital.... or read in the waiting room and return when you‘re finished.

I love the little ways people share books and I was distracted by just pursuing these shelves for a bit. 💙it! 👍 to whoever thought up this idea.

valeriegeary Great idea! 6y
coffeenebula Hope everything is well. Love the book as distraction idea! 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @coffeenebula Fingers crossed it will be, but the silver lining is my Gram at least admitted she wasn‘t feeling well and went, they are keeping her overnight for observation. Her blood pressure was very high. (edited) 6y
