This one is quite different from Apricot Sky, the only other book I‘ve read by this author. It combines a somewhat fairy tale-ish story with old-fashioned romance and is sweet and frothy from the get-go. I‘m enjoying it!

The description of this book as "a love letter to Scotland" made me want to read it, and I'm so glad I did! The heroine's love for her country shines through everywhere, and we see her through all the stages of life- as a carefree child, a young woman "in exile" attending school in England, and a privileged, titled young wife- who then meets her true love on a park bench. The Edinburgh setting is a dream and the story kept me engaged every minute.
