When sixteen-year-old Tess Kendrick is sent to stay with her older sister, she has no idea that the famed Ivy Kendrick is the capital's number one "fixer." For powerful people looking to make a scandal disappear, Tess's sister is there to help . . . for a price. And no sooner does Tess enroll the prestigious Hardwicke School than she unwittingly finds herself following in Ivy's footsteps. Tess never thought she and Ivy had much in common, but when her new friends at school need help, she discovers that her talents quickly make her Hardwicke's go-to high-school fixer. Secrets pile up as each sister lives a double life--until their worlds come crashing together in a conspiracy that reaches from the halls of Hardwicke to Capitol Hill. Suddenly, there is much more on the line than good grades, money, or politics. The odds are stacked against Tess, and the price for this fix might be more than she can pay. Perfect for fans of Ally Carter and Harlan Coben, readers will be clamoring for more in this exciting new series.

This was a reread for me & a buddy read with my daughter. It was just as good the second time.
When Tess can‘t balance school, ranch work & secretly caring for her grandfather, her estranged sister moves her to D.C. Tess knows almost nothing about her sister but soon finds out she‘s one of D.C.‘s top “fixers”.
Secrets, scandals & drama ensue.

Cinfhen Yay!!! I‘m always worried that a re-read won‘t live up to my initial expectations. Glad your mother/ daughter buddyread was a winner 🏅 9mo

My ‘Not So‘ #GuiltyPleasure for June‘s #TitleAndTunes
My biggest reading pleasure is when my daughter asks me to read books. This is one she‘s asked me to read while she‘s on break from college.
This song comes on and I always end up singing along. Even in public ☺️

BarbaraBB More Backstreet Boys 💃💃 10mo
Cinfhen I love reading with my daughter too!!! We often don‘t love the same books but it‘s still fun to read them together 🥰and I always find Backstreet tunes are SUPER sing-alongY 10mo

YA thriller. Imagine if Scandal took place in a high school. Completely improbable but what a great read! The author is wonderful at pacing. Had fun with this one.

Barnes sailed from psychological thriller to political thriller with aplomb in this one! Tess & Ivy have a wonderfully compelling dynamic, & the romance with Henry is really promising. The plot flows at a quick, heart-clutching pace, & it left out just enough of the eye-rolly parts of Scandal for me to actually believe a teenager getting caught up in national politics is totally possible. Can‘t wait to see what book two brings! ★★★★☆.

MarriedtoMrT Book two is amazing! I loved Fixer but I loved The Long Game even more. 5y

This was a great summer book! Everyone needs a little YA in their life because this certainly didn't feel like it was and it would make a great movie! Somebody get on that!

This book was super cute! It was a fast paced YA that kept my interest and didn't let me put it down for long. I totally get the Scandal and Veronica Mars comparisons. Probably 3.5 stars as I didn't feel like it was super deep, but that's also not why I read it.

Laalaleighh I'm unabashedly Litsy stalking you right now bc you showed up on my feed and I feel like I haven't seen you there in ages. There's a second in this series that I liked even more and I really hope she writes a third as there's no way this is done. I desperately want someone to adapt this for TV. Gossip girl meets scandal. 7y
maximoffs @Laalaleighh NO WORRIES I've missed your face. I will for sure read the second! I feel like it would be a perfect CW show 7y
Laalaleighh Legit the CW needs to adapt this right now. 7y

This is billed as Scandal meets Veronica Mars. And, it's accurate. If you suspend your disbelief (which I have no problem doing), be prepared for a fun and wild ride. This was such a fun read. I may or may not have been sitting in my car while finishing this book. Can't wait to read #2.

Thanks are owed to @MarriedtoMrT for recommending this series. Everything I read before starting this book referred to it as a cross between Scandal and Veronica Mars and I thought that there was no way it could be that good. I was wrong. Now I am off to get book two.

MarriedtoMrT Yay! I'm so glad you liked it. The second is even better, IMHO, so enjoy! 7y

A YA political thriller that I read #forclass. And when I say I read it, I mean I ate it up with a spoon. The plot and the characters are both so smart and it reminded me of the Ally Carter books I loved reading in high school. Now excuse me while I read the sequel ASAP (and when I say ASAP, I mean as soon as my next paper is done).

MarriedtoMrT I loved this book with all my heart until the sequel came along. The Long Game is even better if you can imagine. 7y

You know a book is good (and entertaining) when you look at the clock after turning the last page and it's 2:30 in the morning.

I read The Fixer this weekend! It was such a great read. Truly is Scandal meets Veronica Mars. If Veronica was related to Olivia Pope! I highly recommend it!

I adored this book. I adored it so much I've already ordered the sequel. It appealed to so many different parts of me. The kid who loved Nancy Drew mysteries. The teenager who loved Gossip Girl on the CW. The (adult? adult-ish?) person who loves House of Cards and Madame Secretary. If you took those three and wove them together you would get The Fixer. Someone should adapt this for television. It would be a sensation.

First day of #24in48 hasn't exactly gone the way I'd hoped as I've been sick in bed asleep almost the whole day. I had a more serious book picked for my next read, but am ditching it for this fast-paced, YA thriller about a teenage Olivia Pope type. I think my cat approves 😼

Ok. Book two, with lots of catching up to do. Let's do this.

Making my way through a nomination list for an awards committee. So, my patio read this weekend is The Fixer. High school girl in DC finds herself "solving problems" for her classmates, which leads her into depths of DC power structure.

Absolutely fantastic! The chapter lengths build the tension to the height of the roller coaster, and the fall from the top into the loops is dizzying.
