Harry Bosch crosses the line to team up with Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller in the new thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly. Detective Harry Bosch has retired from the LAPD, but his half-brother, defense attorney Mickey Haller, needs his help. A woman has been brutally murdered in her bed and all evidence points to Haller's client, a former gang member turned family man. Though the murder rap seems ironclad, Mickey is sure it's a setup. Bosch doesn't want anything to do with crossing the aisle to work for the defense. He feels it will undo all the good he's done in his thirty years as a homicide cop. But Mickey promises to let the chips fall where they may. If Harry proves that his client did it, under the rules of discovery, they are obliged to turn over the evidence to the prosecution. Though it goes against all his instincts, Bosch reluctantly takes the case. The prosecution's file just has too many holes and he has to find out for himself: if Haller's client didn't do it, then who did? With the secret help of his former LAPD partner Lucy Soto, Harry starts digging. Soon his investigation leads him inside the police department, where he realizes that the killer he's been tracking has also been tracking him. Thrilling, fast-paced, and impossible to put down, The Crossing shows without a shadow of doubt that Connelly is "a master of building suspense" (Wall Street Journal).

My husband & I just caught up on the latest season of BOSCH: LEGACY, & made me miss listening to this series, so I looked up where I had left off and was delighted by the coincidence that it was the same book that much of season two‘s plot was based on! There are plenty of differences between the show and books (mainly the ages and the fact that some characters were killed off in the book and not the show), but still enough similarities to be fun!

I really dropped the ball on #serieslove2023 Never posted a summing up !This is a photo from January last year, I read 8 Connellys , 2, Leons , 1 Silva. Shocking but true, couldn‘t find the next Thompson though as you can see, I own several! I didn‘t put Karin Slaughter in these stacks ,yet I read 3 last year.😁🤷‍♀️ Thanks to @TheSpineView and @Andrew65 for hosting!

Ruthiella Nice job! 👏👏👏 9mo
TheSpineView A very good showing. I think even one book off my TBR list is a step forward. Well done! 9mo

Fast action paced. Bosch has crossed over to the dark side. He helps with the defense of an innocent man being set up by the LAPD. Lots of search and action.

This one was published in 2015, TV show Bosch Legacy season 2 based on it & I watched it first!😄There are differences, Haller is the lawyer in the book , Honey Chandler , the show. Daughter Maddie is just leaving high school for college in the book , on the police force in the show.I would recommend both.In your local bookstores,it has a TV tie in cover, I found this nice hardcover in a thrift!

My husband and I have been watching Bosch: Legacy. We have to pause the show a lot because my dog is a ginormous butthole who has to bark at every little thing. Anyway, I love how Amazon now has this "Get the Book" option in their x-ray. If you click on it, it has a QR code you can scan to go to the book on Amazon. I get that it's marketing and for them more than for me, but it's still cool.

Aims42 That is cool!! 14mo
DGRachel Bailey barks at the TV, too - dogs, horses, animated unicorns…🤦🏻‍♀️ 14mo

My guilty pleasures are mystery/thriller series, and middle grade/YA books. The Bosch series has been my go to lately when I need a quick escape. My guilty pleasure listening is any song that takes me back to high school. Singing Wonderwall in the car will make me happy every time. #titlesandtunes #guiltypleasure @Cinfhen

I have to wonder, how much of my opinion of a Connelly novel is related to the content and execution, and how much is just the mood I was in while listening to the audiobook? Whatever the balance, I enjoyed this one. I like Bosch's moral dilemma and his partnership with Haller. The story doesn't coalesce as cleanly as some of the others, but that didn't bother me here.

What can I say, I've just been in the mood for Connelly's razor sharp crime fiction. This one was great and I loved that we got to see Bosch and Haller on the same side of the aisle (even if it killed Bosch to be seen as working for the defense). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

RachelAmphlett If you‘re loving these, and if I haven‘t recommended them before, you might like the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike books by Robert Crais after this series - things really take off from book three! 3y
swishandflick @RachelAmphlett Ooh, thank you!! I've already been wondering what I'll do when I finish the series so I appreciate the recommendation! 3y

I think audiobooks are going to be my new friend while I slowly get back into reading. I devoured this novel in two days. While technically a part of Connelly‘s Bosch series, I read it for continuity of his Mickey Haller series as Haller is a strong supporting character here. Very enjoyable.

Book #18 of the Harry Bosch series. I missed this one originally as it was listed under the Lincoln Lawyer series rather than HB series. But it def belongs with HB. Harry is the main character & it is pivotal in his roles that cone in books after this as he becomes Haller‘s investigator on a case in retirement.

Harry is back! Book 18 in the series was so much better than the last few, I really enjoyed this one.
Bosch has crossed over from been a homicide detective to helping his half brother, Haller working for the defence. A very good plot.

I am really embracing audiobooks. I spent my afternoon hanging with this guy and still got to read! Can‘t wait for consistently nice weather, then the whole neighborhood can listen to my audiobooks with me while I take him on walks 😊

This story is a Harry Bosch centered book. Harry has retired from the LAPD. He gets involved in a case with his half-brother, Mickey Haller. Mickey has a client accused of murder, but is innocent. Harry begins to investigate. Highly recommend.

I read this book on the plane between D.C. and San Diego. It is another Michael Connolly page turner- I could not put it down!! LAPD detective Harry Bosch has retired and is working for his half brother, Lincoln lawyer defense attorney Mickey Haller. He feels strange working for the other side but keeps his principles by working to find the real killer, not Haller's client who has been framed by rogue LAPD police officers. A great read as always.

Harry Bosch is one of my favorite characters. What I love about him is that he is not complicated at all. He just wants to make his city a safe place. #Bosch #LAPD #retirement #meanmugging #Connelly

Harry Bosch, one of my favorite older cranky detectives ( alongside John Rebus from the kingdom of Fife) is just perfect when I don't want to think, just go along for the ride.
