The Wedding Date | Jasmine Guillory

An #unpopularopinion, but I didn‘t enjoy this book as much as I thought I was going to. The plot was ripe for some #guiltypleasure #romcom action, but I just found myself bored for the majority of the book. Most of the time, the two main characters would meet on weekends and just do the routine every time. It dragged on for me. I also found the female main character to be obsessively insecure with her looks. The Proposal was much better.

OnlyYoo The communication in this book was just so bad 5d

Urgh. Dreadful. Too much plot, and none of the underlying fun/niceness of the original series

This book definitely leant itself to audiobook format & felt like I was listening to another Bachelorette podcast. (Yes, I consume many of them each week.) I did really enjoy learning the history of dating shows, in general, and how this one came to be. Overall, this was a fun little sneak peek into the Bachelor world, and I may have discovered a new rabbit hole of memoirs to which I‘ll listen.

As a fan of the first couple seasons of the show it was fun to read this soapy book. A basic sort of trashy novel about the lives of the mostly spoiled teens on nyc‘s upper east side. Chuck comes off even creepier in the book if that‘s possible. S tries to return but has a harder time than she thought. Will be B and S reconcile...guess I‘ll have to keep reading. Xoxo. #socialmediafocused #booked2019 #canthelpmyself #guiltypleasure #sobaditsgood

jpellet Yay! I‘m excited! 6mo
jpellet @4thhouseontheleft Will discussion questions be about the whole book? I haven‘t finished reading yet, so will hold off checking posts so I don‘t accidentally see spoilers if that is the case. Thanks! 6mo
4thhouseontheleft @jpellet I‘m going to try to keep the first few discussion questions based on the first half of the book. 6mo

julesG And, my #GuiltyPleasure, sizzling romances by Lauren Blakely. 😁 7mo
Aimeesue The Number One Ladies Détective Agency series, read by Lissette Lecat. Anything read by Stephen Fry or Tim Curry - velvet voices! 7mo
AmyG Insomnia by Stephen King.....brilliantly read by Eli Wallach. 7mo
Bookies Should support indie bookstores. Libro.fm has digital audio that does. 7mo
baes I listen to the Outlander series while I read physical copies of the books. She‘s so good at the different accents and gives each character their own voice. Really brings the books to life. (edited) 7mo
Sharpeipup Anything read by Jim Dale such as 7mo
Susanita I really enjoyed this on audio: 7mo
riversong153 Omg...The Night Circus was excellent on audio! 7mo
Cathythoughts I really like this one on Audible 7mo
youneverarrived Born a Crime, The Choice, Blackout & In Order to Live are all brilliant non-fiction on audio. 7mo
marleed The full cast of Daisy Jones and the Six is the only time I‘ve ever recommended that if someone read the book they also give the audiobook a listen. 7mo
marleed @Sharpeipup I recently listened to the Night Circus read by Jim Dale and had to keep reminding myself I wasn‘t inside a Harry Potter book. I have Jim Dale stereotyped - in a good way! 7mo
Birdsong28 This is really good on audiobook 7mo
Cinfhen Kevin Hart is probably hilarious @Birdsong28 I‘m definitely going to look out for that one ☝🏾 thanks for the suggestion 7mo
Cinfhen I picked up Yes, Please on Hoopla @Susanita and People of the Book is one of my favorite actual books 📖 7mo
Cinfhen I could see Daisy Jones being excellent as an audio choice @marleed 7mo
Birdsong28 @Cinfhen It is such a good book, it's just like listening to him do stand up. I only got it for 99p as it was in Audible's Christmas daily deals one of the best audiobook I have heard. 📚📖 7mo
BarbaraBB I don‘t know if it is available but if so, please get Cassandra at the Wedding. I am soooo sure you‘ll love it (and I can‘t send you my copy as it is part of my NYRB collection) 😃 7mo
Cinfhen You‘re so sweet!! It‘s not available but I‘ll keep my eyes open @BarbaraBB 😘😘 7mo
toofondofbooks Ready Player One narrated by Will Wheaton, The Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss, Anything by Neil Gaiman bc he usually does his own narration, The Gentleman Bastard Series, most Stephen King is excellent, anything narrated by Bronson Pinchot, Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Tales, Swan Song by Robert McCammon, Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness 7mo
Cinfhen Thanks so much @toofondofbooks I‘ve been eyeing a few of these books 🤩🤩 7mo
Centique @Bookies not available in my country unfortunately. Many of us on Litsy aren‘t North American. 7mo
LeticiaToraci I usually look for new releases that are cheaper to get for the Audible monthly fee than the current book price and listen the probe. One I liked was a series by Jessica Cluess. 7mo
LeticiaToraci The name of the trilogy was Kingdom on Fire, YA with fantasy and very well written. 7mo
LeticiaToraci Another was a retelling of Frankenstein, The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein. 7mo
Bookies @Centique I bet there‘s a smaller option besides audible though. Hummingbird digital media? Anything? 6mo
Centique @Bookies nope. The biggest of our independent bookstores has a link to Kobo but there‘s a very small selection of audiobooks available. Libby is a good alternative but bookstores don‘t get any benefit of course. 6mo
