👻 Tagged book! Not sure why rating so low. It‘s a Halloween-themed trilogy. Do one a day on audio!

This is a double post for #AutumnorFall in #BookScavengerHunt and #BookRecommendation.

In this episode, I review the Halloween themed novel, "Ghost Road Blues" by Jonathan Maberry!
https://youtu.be/DpBlSq0oU58
I‘ve dragged myself to 29%. Looking at reviews, it doesn‘t seem to pick up. Seems like a love it or hate it book. I really don‘t want to read 71% more, but I also hate leaving books when I‘m more than a few pages into them.
Well I did it, I FINALLY finished this one. Ugh! 😒 You know how you listen to an audiobook and sometimes you notice things that maybe you wouldn't if you read it yourself? Like the overuse of certain words. There was just a combination of reasons this didn't work for me. A big one, the narrator. #Scarathlon2020 #TeamHarkness #thrilloweenreadathon #cocoturns50 #fallintoreadathon #readallweekcgb #ReadYourWay

Up next, another one by Maberry. This one supposedly takes place on Halloween. 🤷♀️

I decided to read this for #scarathlon2020 points because it was Halloween themed.
Very reminiscent of Stephen King, this book was disturbing, spooky, and LONG. I enjoyed this story, but didn't realize it was part of a series. The epilouge left things open ended and I needed more of a payoff than what I got. For someone who wants to get invested in a series and enjoys King, worth the read. For me, only a so-so.
It's October! Yay! I started this audiobook as I got ready for work. Already scary; I hope I can make it through without too many nightmares.
Thankfully I have a lot less horror on my TBR for #scarathlon2020 but wanted to get this one in since it's Halloween themed.

The first in a trilogy, this is an excellent beginning to a rip-roaring monster/horror story! This is the tale of a small Pennsylvania town, Pine Deep, known for its elaborate Halloween celebrations. One year, things get a little too real. I have yet to read anything by Maberry that I haven‘t loved, and this is no exception. I can‘t wait to finish the series!
I‘m late on my #hometownswap post. I worked late but thankfully I had my box at work which had everything I love! When I began to open the strip of tape, my coffee radar could smell the lovely aroma from inside the box. I read the book jackets and forced myself to leave it at work tonight so I could sleep and be not be tempted to read into the hours. Thanks @CocoReads for making my first swap so much fun! Thanks @MicrobeMom @readinginthedark
My first book by this author and it won‘t be my last. This story provided everything that you want in a Horror story. It kept me wanting to listen to find out what was going to happen next. This this the first book in the Pine Deep Trilogy and when it ended I went on the hunt for book 2.
Twitter exchange w/Jonathan Maberry last night...
On the way home now, & trying to finish What Happened. Such a good book by our should-be Commander in Chief!
Read when the baby sleeps. It's just like "sleep when the baby sleeps", except when the baby wakes up from actually sleeping for a few hours, you curse yourself for staying up reading and not sleeping too, and you're suddenly very fucking exhausted.
Cleaned out my bookshelves and took almost 70 books to HPB. Immediately took that money next door to B&N and bought these......
And they couldn't be more different from each other!
