As a mother of 2 teenage boys... No words could explain how sad this sentiment makes me feel
panOh, dear no. I love a good period mystery it's my go to genre when I need a light palate-cleaser but this offering did nothing for me. The writing was poor, over-full of descriptive detail, stock characters and wince-inducing syntax. I found myself rewriting sentences as I read. A more tongue-in-cheek tone would have served it well and might have made its failings more forgivable but the patronising signposting and inexplicable plot made it a pan.
