Night Before First Grade
Night Before First Grade | Natasha Wing
3 posts | 3 read
It's the night before the Big Day--first grade. Penny is excited to startthe year with her best friend right beside her in the same classroom. This humorous take on Clement C. Moore's classic tale has a perfect twist ending that will surprise readers--as well as the "heroine" of the story--and help all about-to-be first-graders through their own backto- school jitters.

This book is a RF. I would do RA. I love this book. I did an audio on this book last semester. Good for those transitioning into first grade. Penny is excited to start first grade with her friend by her side. The book goes through the worries and fear all kids go through starting a new grade.

Bmelendez92 I love these type of books, simply because it helps with the ease of transitioning into a new grade. This would be great to put at the end of year to get student excited for the next school year 5y
raqueldonna This sounds like a great book that kids can really relate to. 5y
DeniseR Yes! This would be a great summer read to relax students as they prepare for a new school year or go to the next grade. I could also see shared reading and discussions for students to share pre-school jitters with one another. It could be used as a transition to a mental health topic such as how to be healthy and cope with stress. #UCFSU19 5y

🌟 BOOK SUGGESTIONS NEEDED! 🌟 I volunteered to sponsor one of the 19 kids in my best friend‘s 1st grade class. I have been assigned a boy and I need to purchase a book that he will receive on his first day (details above). Please comment below with your recommendations. Thank you!

hwestfall This is an awesome idea! My kiddos have loved all the Little Critter books. The Day the Crayons Quit is also a family favorite. I am not sure if that one is in paperback though. 6y
Jennick2004 Lol @hwestfall didn‘t see your comment before I posted! 6y

hwestfall @Jennick2004 Well, it is worth the double suggestion! We laugh out loud every single time we get to peach crayon 😂 6y
BarbaraJean What a sweet idea!! I loved Arnold Lobel‘s Mouse Tales when I was little—literally read it to pieces! But this one is wonderful if you want something more inspirational/encouraging instead of funny: 6y
LibrarianRyan Since it's for a first grader, I suggest and Early Chapter book. And if you need something even earlier, Scribbles and Ink. 6y
tracey38 This is such a cute idea! 6y
Mamashep Leo Lionni‘s books 6y
Pamwurtzler That‘s a good idea. I‘d go with one of those early reader chapter books. 6y

AAdamson Timothy Goes to School by Rosemary Wells. I read it to my students on the first day of school every year. I taught Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd over the years. All three grades enjoyed it. 6y
