The second book in the acclaimed Licanius Trilogy by James Islington. "Love The Wheel of Time? This is about to become your new favorite series." - B&N SF & Fantasy Blog "Fans of Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson will find much to admire." - Guardian In the wake of a devastating attack, an amnesty has been declared for all Augurs-finally allowing them to emerge from hiding and openly oppose the dark forces massing against the land of Andarra. As the Augur Davian and his new allies hurry north toward the ever-weakening Boundary, however, fresh horrors along their path suggest that their reprieve may have come far too late. His ally in the Capital, the new Northwarden, contends with assassins and politicians, and uncovers a dangerous political secret. Meanwhile, their compatriot Asha begins a secret investigation into the disappearance of the Shadows. And Caeden races against time to fulfill his treacherous bargain with the Lyth, but as more and more of his memories return, he begins to realise that the two sides in this ancient war may not be as clear-cut as they first seemed... Book mail.

The Broken Binding subscription. Book two in this series.

The book has blue block sprayed edges that match the cover. Signed by the author and numbered. Bookmark and fancy end papers with foil on the hardcover.

Chunky book! I look forward to reading this trilogy.

BOOKS I READ IN MAY

I only managed to read two books. I've had so much work lately and was stressed quite a lot and therefore wasn't in the mood to read. I hope it gets better during the summer as I really miss reading a lot!

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy reading this book much. It might be the fact that I waited too long after the first part - Shadow of What Was Lost - and forgot most of the plot. Throughout the book I had no idea what was happening most of the time, who is who, who did what thousands of years ago and how that influenced the present that is equally as complicated.

Great second book. Recommend for any epic fantasy lovers. Prepared to be lost at times as flashbacks jump you all around through time, but by the end you get a lot of answers toward the overall mythology. Look forward to finishing the trilogy.

I just love these books. The Audible narrator is wonderful, I love his deep, gravelly voice.

A story with immortals, people who wield magic called essence and kan and gods.

There is a battle of wills between individuals on both sides who believe wholeheartedly they are on the side of good and right.

If you are a fan of epic fantasy, this series is a must-read in my opinion. Finished re-reading this earlier this month. Still such a phenomenal book and series up to this point. Hope to begin reading the next book in the series soon, being the only one I haven't read previously. An Echo of Things to Come does a great job of fleshing out more of the historical events, and in further developing a great cast of characters.

Been up since 3am unable to sleep, so I'm audiopuzzling because I don't have the brain power to read at the moment.

Aussie_SFF Ha! This is my audible purchase for this month. 😁 5y
LazyOwl @Aussie_SFF this is my second time listening in preparation for listening to the third book. I really like the narrator in these ones. 5y

I've been re-reading this book as I work up to reading the most recent in the series. Really can't say enough good things about this series. The author does a fantastic job at world-building, and really getting across the feeling of history for the world.

Nute I‘m excited about reading this series. Just waiting for all books to be available in paperback. I have purchased the first two. Is it supposed to be a trilogy? 5y
hybridhavoc @Nute yeah I think so. Hopefully I'll be able to finish the third one by the end of the month. I only hope it lives up to my expectations. 5y
LazyOwl I'm doing a reread of this at the moment as well on Audible. The audio for this is great. 5y
hybridhavoc @LazyOwl Just about anything that Michael Kramer narrates, I'm probably going to love. 5y

Alright #24in48 it's on like Donkey Kong. Time to hunker down and put a serious friggen dent in this chunkster!

Its -26°C outside right now so the blankets are out, the fire is lit, and the chair is pulled up nice and close!

Hello, rest of my night. 😍

I was originally going to wait a little while to read this 2nd book in the trilogy. The thing is...after finishing the first book I haven't been able to stop thinking about the story. ?

Sometimes a book just knows when it's supposed to be read, I guess. ?

"The wand chooses the wizard, Mr. Potter." ?‍♂️

ReadingVampire Omg I had the same thing happen to me with these... ❤️ 6y

4.5 stars. This is a solid fantasy series! It took me longer to get into this second book, because there was a bit of an info dump in the beginning. This novel had great character development, as well as a better understanding of the world.
