An enjoyable return to the Périgord, filled with wine, food, arson, questionable deaths, and industrial espionage.

VeganCleopatra What is the black wood and metal thing next to the fireplace? 🤔 4y
TheKidUpstairs @VeganCleopatra it's an apple press, we use it to make cider in the fall 😄 4y
VeganCleopatra Thanks! I knew I had seen such a thing numerous times before but could not put my finger on it. Sounds like fun. 🤗 4y

I'm loving this series, set in St. Denis, a small village in France. Bruno is chief of police, but he is much more than that. He holds the town together with his love of the citizens, good food and of course the wine. A corporation wants to buy up land and produce their wine, but is this what's best for this rural community? Arson and murder stir the pot in this well written tale. 5⭐

Freespirit This sounds wonderful!! 6y

A few pages on a party to press local grapes, in centuries old style- jump in the vat of grapes in a bathing suit & march! So much detail in this series of French customs, political machinations, it‘s beautiful countryside, it‘s wine making & village life. the second I have read in this series; I am ready for book 3.

This book is a feast of the food & wine of France‘s countryside & small village life. Incredibly detailed. Loved these passages introducing becasse & how it is eaten!

booklahoma Well, crap. Now I have to add 12 more books to my TBR pile! 😀 I had always heard becasses referred to as ortolans, which are eaten by diners who cover their heads with a napkin to hide the shame of eating a beautiful bird from God's eyes. (edited) 6y

Read until 7pm when UConn Women faces UCLA.
Enjoying this series, new to me, set in the French Countryside. I am thinking @Andrew65 recommended this author. 😀 #blameitonLitsy

Andrew65 Unfortunately can‘t claim this one as not an author I am aware of. Are you enjoying it? 6y
kspenmoll @Andrew65 I am enjoying it- read the first in the series & enjoyed that too. Really immersed you in the French countryside- 6y

#TBRtemptation post 5! This is the second installment in the internationally acclaimed Bruno, Chief of Police series. Saint-Denis' only policeman rushes to the scene of a gmo research facility burning down. Then, a bunch of winemakers descend on the village competing for the land and building resentment. Then two murders occur. Alongside these events, there is immersion into French culture, cuisine, & wine. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

LauraBrook Love this series, though it's less cozy than it seems. ❤️💙🇫🇷 7y
