#BookMail Pt3 This is a reading memoir by the author of The Woman In Black. In it, she documents a whole year of her reading, giving thoughts on books from Edith Wharton, Virginia Woolf & even the 12th Century monk Aelred Of Rievaulx. And not just the books but also the places she reads in, it should be a fascinating read. I loved Bookworm by Lucy Mangan, reading memoirs are a lot of fun & give great insight to a person.
Currently reading this very interesting book.
My view so far is this book is full of everything and nothing!
It does have a few great recommendations of other books.
5+ stars for this little gem! Susan Hill contemplates about literature, the writer‘s self-perception, country life, birds, etc. etc. Written with witty humour (her comparison of Waterstones to WH Smith is hilarious) and in beautiful poetic language, I recommend this to any book lover, i.e. y‘all! 😉🤗😘
Loving this book! ❤️
I loved Susan Hill‘s first memoir about reading (Howard‘s End is on the Landing), and so was thrilled to spot a sequel today while book shopping.
Oh, @rubyslippersreads - this pile of perfection is like you took me shopping with you and bought me all of my favourite things. The Brontes, Jane Austen, Dorothy Parker! The vintage copy of Going Back that I‘ve been coveting, Susan Hill‘s new “book about books”, the gorgeous Penguin tote, the Austen socks, the teeny Bronte book, the Jane Eyre bookmark, the dancing Austen card, the biscuits - I‘m so touched. Thank you so much, sweet friend! 😘😘
