It‘s so good to see these old friends. They are a wonderful historical fiction trilogy about NYC when it was still Nieuw Amsterdam. I really loved them.

P.S. I just looked up this series and there‘s a 4th book! City of Promise. Guess what‘s going on my wishlist? And then time for a reread. Nice.

Books that start out with a timeline or family tree always make me nervous. It makes me wonder if I'm smart enough to be reading the book at all! 😱

I love perusing my shelves for my next book. It's one of my favorite things about reading. The ever enticing "what's next?" gets me every time. ♡♡♡

This book took me more than 6 months to finish, had very small type, covered several generations of the same family(as you can see from the picture above) and at times, was very graphic and gory and I loved every bit of it. This was the perfect book to end this year with. #historicalfiction #newyork

I can either be a maid in the 1730s or a mantua-maker(gown maker). Not sure how I would dress as a mantua-maker so I guess maid it is! @JoeStalksBeck

I loved this historical novel of New York and how the author incorporates the history of medicine throughout it. The description of how sickness was treated will make you squirm! Loved it, sometimes history hurts

Finally finished this saga. Boy did I love the detailed info/research on surgeons and apothecaries in the early days of the colonies, and the interesting family involved. Covers much history of New York as well. But beware the gore and explicit portions, I had to skim certain parts of it. I just know I am so blessed to have been born in modern times!

#SeasonsReadings2016- Although most of City of Dreams takes place after the British took control of Manhattan, it still is a good #fictionnonfictionpairing with The Island at the Center of the World.

Most anticipated reads: City of Dreams has been on TBR list for awhile. Been putting it off because I get stalled in long books. A friend read it after our NYC trip so I'm going to give it a go. I started My Name is Resolute awhile ago with great anticipation but again, long book. (Wish me luck) Making a library run today to pick up my other anticipated read: Another Brooklyn. Still waiting on The Underground Railroad & Ashes to arrive. #booktober

Historical fiction that beats with the pulse of New York before it was a city. Reminds me of a shortened Ken Follet novel.
