Remedial Rocket Science: A Romantic Comedy
Remedial Rocket Science: A Romantic Comedy | Susannah Nix
18 posts | 26 read | 13 to read
Rocket science is no problem. Falling in love, on the other hand... College student Melody Gage is craving a night of no-strings fun when she meets charming out-of-towner Jeremy, and that's exactly what she gets. Until three years later, when Melody relocates to Los Angeles and finds herself thrust back into Jeremy's orbit. Not only does her hunky one-night stand work at the same aerospace company where she's just started her dream job, he's the CEO's son. Jeremy's got a girlfriend and a reputation as a bad boy, so Melody resolves to keep her distance. Despite her good intentions, a series of awkward circumstances--including an embarrassing crying jag, a latte vs. computer catastrophe, and an emergency fake date--throw her together with the heavenly-smelling paragon of hotness. As the billionaire playboy and nerdy IT girl forge an unlikely friendship, Melody's attraction to Jeremy grows deeper than she's ready to admit. How much will she risk for a shot at her happy ending? The debut novel from author Susannah Nix, Remedial Rocket Science follows in the tradition of contemporary romantic comedy favorites like Penny Reid, Sally Thorne, and Jennifer Crusie. This lighthearted second-chance romance is the first in a series of standalone romcoms featuring geeky heroines who work in STEM fields.

Nerdy Melody tries to be a bit adventurous and has a one night stand with out-of-towner Jeremy. Three years later their paths cross again when she gets a job at his family‘s company. Against her better judgment, she gets feelings for him (he‘s got a bad boy rep and a girlfriend).
I liked how self-aware Melody was. Also, she respected Jeremy‘s relationship, even befriending his gf. She didn‘t plot to break them up or act on her feelings.

In Kansas City for some family time, our Airbnb features these stairs and it‘s about a block away from a bookstore..so I‘d say it‘s a pretty solid choice to stay.

Tamra Love! I always wanted to do this with the stairs in our olde 1900 house. It would have been perfect, but unfortunately lost on subsequent owners. 😏 Sadly, we knew it wasn‘t our forever home. (edited) 10mo
marleed Oh have fun! I hope you enjoy some bbq! 10mo
Sharpeipup @marleed we‘ve already been to one with plans to visit a few more. Got any favorites here to recommend? 10mo

marleed @Sharpeipup the original Joe‘s bbq on 47th is fun and May have a line out the door! Q39 might be my personal favorite! (edited) 10mo
Sharpeipup @marleed dinner was at Q39 last night and Joe‘s is in the plan for tomorrow! 10mo
marleed @Sharpeipup haha, looks like you are getting great bbq advice. Oh, when you are out and about and if you notice Topsy‘s popcorn - that‘s local too. It‘s very good and I always go with the cheese popcorn! 10mo

So maybe it‘s a little weird getting recommendations for romance novels from my principal, but that‘s where I‘m at… this was actually a very sweet story and I flew through it. Started it after work today and stayed up entirely too late to finish it. Which means I‘m probably going to start my summer break by binging the rest of the series… 🤣

I really wanted to love this book. Smart female lead, opposites attract, flirty romcom but something was missing. The pace was a little slow for me.

I‘ve been after a light romance that isn‘t too icky for a good long while now, and I‘d heard this series recommended on the latest summer reading guide by Anne Bogel. It hit the spot. Heartwarming and fun without being too much (I‘m not really one for super intense open door romances), it also made me cry, so yeah. Fun. Enjoyed ❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Melody is a freshman at MIT when she has a memorable 1 night stand. It is such a surprise when she meets him again only to find out that he is the heir apparent to the bazillion dollar company in California she just got hired at. Lol, this book is the definition of escapism. It took me back to The crazy drama of Melrose Place. Billion dollar playboys. Sisters cheating on sisters with their bf‘s. A woman leaving her man for a woman. It was a👇🏼

Reggie a lot and I ate it up. Lol. 5y
Centique Sounds like a fun read 👍 5y
Reggie @Centique I was at the laundromat laughing out loud at the ridiculousness. 5y

I've finally had some time to myself and actually finished a book! This contemporary romance was wonderful. A geeky and smart heroine and a hero trying to ditch his playboy ways form a true friendship that leads to more. This story warmed my heart and I'm happy to have read it. #romance #contemporary #ebook #geeky #kindle

Scratchy has joined me for a bit of evening reading. Once she settles down on my lap she could nap for hours. It's not like I'm going to sleep much anyway! 😳

This romantic comedy had a cool heroine and nuanced representations of female friendships, but I found the ex-cheater hero a bit hard to handle. Maybe it wouldn't have pissed me off so much a few years ago, but the last 18 months has left me with little sympathy for the poor-little-rich-boy shtick. Also not a fan of the subplot that plays into the treacherous bisexual trope. But overall a ok read. #LitsyAtoZ #LetterR #contemporaryromance

Chachic I think this was available as a freebie before and I have a copy of it in my Kindle. 6y
danistclair @Chachic it's worth a read, but I wouldn't move it to the top of your TBR or anything 6y

I started this in the middle of the night, but isn't that what vacation is for? I was disappointed by the lack of actual rocket science which is an odd comment to make about a romance novel. Other than the misleading title this was a satisfying read.

I needed something light hearted after my attempt at reading a too-much-like-reality fiction book. Just started this Romantic Comedy featuring a geeky girl in IT manuevering life after college.
