Wuthering Heights | Emily Bront

"The entire world is a dreadful collection of memoranda that she did exist, and that I have lost her!"

I finished this book last night and as soon as I turned the last page, the lights went out and a storm came on with rain. It isn't supposed to rain in March. But, I would like to think that the elements were paying their tribute to the genius of Emily and her love for nature.
I have read this book in @sharread 's honour for the #SharReadathon.?

truthinfiction It is a re- read and I couldn't really comprehend the book the first time I read it five years ago. But, I felt like a child again sitting by my window getting lost between the pages of a tempestuous tale fancying myself and the characters the chief occupants of the world. I fell in love with reading all over again. I felt closer to Emily as well. How her own private thoughts and feelings must have informed that of her characters'. 👇 9mo
truthinfiction I found myself lamenting her loss at a tender age and felt eternally grateful for the volume between my fingers. 9mo
LindaLappin a magnificent read. I like to reread it in stormy weather too. “I am Heathcliff“ are probably among the most powerful words in the history of English literature. I also love the way it starts out with Lockwood stumbling into the great kitchen and misunderstanding everything about the place & people. I love how it dramatizes inner conflicts, passions, and unconscious forces, not only thru the characters but also thru the imagery & setting 9mo
truthinfiction @LindaLappin thank you for your insight. Lockwood certainly deceived me the first time around with his hastily drawn and self- absorbed conclusions but this time around I was able to appreciate how that's actually more realistic since Lockwood seems to be a character entirely wrapped in himself and only able to care about others after establishing some imagined resemblance between himself and others. 9mo
LindaLappin @truthinfiction so true, He resembles his name.

I actually finished this a few days ago, but I was too disappointed to write a review so here I am right now.
First off, I‘m so sorry.
I know a lot of people enjoyed this and I really wanted to, but it was SOOO hard for me to follow along with the plot. I confess I had to look at the Wiki summary to understand what happened in that entire second half because no matter how many times I flipped back the pages, I just couldn‘t understand the +

jeannasser whole worldbuilding and how the technology worked, and I say this as someone who religiously reads AND writes sci-fi. The only reason I‘m giving this 4 points is because of Murderbot itself. Its sarcasm and introverted idgaf behavior really kept me reading even though I didn‘t care for any other character OR what was happening with DeltFall and the hacked government module. There was no explanation about anything and I was just dragged into it (edited) 9mo
jeannasser Another thing I enjoyed was the writing style (for the most part). A lot of the descriptions felt very H. Beam Piper and Alan E. Nourse-esque, which I love. The first half was way more enjoyable than the second. And the only fight scene in here was really interesting. But that‘s it on my list of highlights. I‘ve never left a book halfway annotated bc I wanted to finish asap. A book this short shouldn‘t feel so tedious.Does it get better from here? 9mo
jeannasser Also I feel SO bad that I didn‘t enjoy this book when it‘s the only book I read for the #Sharreadathon I will continue to read books from @sharread ‘s tbr even if the marathon is over, because like I said, her TBR deserves to be finished. 9mo
RamsFan1963 @jeannasser Honestly, I found the first book only so-so. From the second book on, I switched to the audiobook version and enjoyed it 100% more. 9mo
jeannasser @RamsFan1963 yeah when I was reading the first half I was certain it was at least a so-so because there were some things I still found interesting but then it focused way too much on infodumping rather than character development. I never understood what Gurathin‘s deal was with Murderbot. I will still give the other books a chance bc Murderbot was an interesting enough character to make me curious. I‘m glad to hear it gets better 😁 9mo

I have been thoroughly absorbed for the past three days or so in this absolute whirlwind of a book trying to finish it in time for #SharReadathon. Although, I still have a number of pages to go, the experience of reading it has been intense and rewarding. I am determined to finish it in the coming days. All the love and prayers for Sharon! May she rest in peace! 🌺

🎧 I loved this book! I hope someone does a special edition of it. My last book for #sharreadathon!

It‘s reminiscent of The Dark Crystal or The NeverEnding Story or Labyrinth. Like an 80‘s vibe movie. There‘s some pop culture that cracked me up.

Bob Cormac created a movie with puppets that flopped, they came to life after he died to save the world. I know, right?!

It deals with coming of age, coming to terms, fandom, a quest, etc

🎧 Autobiography narrated by the author.

This guy has led an interesting life and ultimately feels like a good guy.

A cautionary tale? It felt honest and heartfelt. And boy he seems to have spent a lot of time in jail!

He‘d be interesting to have a conversation with. Multiple partners, illness, ambivalent parents, 3 kids, multitude of jobs and an extensive film career!

Great read!!

Book 9/10 of my #sharreadathon books.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

These are the books I read during the Sharreadathon.

I want to say I am so sorry for everyone who knew her and loved her's loss. Losing a friend is so hard, I hope you can all find peace and healing soon.💙

🎧 The cover of this book reminded me of the covers for The Library at Mount Char & The Library of the Unwritten. Yes the comparison is odd & means nothing but I liked the cover.

This book was a horror/thriller. If you like body horror, here it is!

We have a brother/sister who were close until one left, years later they‘re reunited when one gets a divorce & they drive cross country back to their childhood town.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👇🏻

Twainy On the way the sister is involved in a freak accident and the strange supernatural events start from there.

I loved this story. I sat there thinking about the possibilities several times while listening to the audiobook.

I think each character made its rounds in my mind from like to hate or hate to like. LOL

It‘s horror so be warned.

🎧 This was my first book from this author and his last written.

ABOUT A BOOK SELLER?? YESSS!!

I‘m a little disappointed. I wasn‘t sure what to expect but I think I was anticipating more bookish talk LOL

It was still well written so if you‘ve read & enjoyed his previous books you will probably enjoy this one too.
