The Malazan Book of the Fallen series is challenging but so very rewarding. This 5th book introduces a new cast of characters and locale. At first, I missed the familiar characters, but it didn't take me long to get totally absorbed in the story.

This is my #DoubleSpin book for #BookSpinBingo. @TheAromaofBooks

I didn't manage as many hours as usual, with just over 8 hours for the #20in4 readathon, but I did make some progress with the 5th Malazan Book of the Fallen novel. This is one large and epic series!

Thank you for hosting the readathon, @Andrew65!

Andrew65 8 hours is a good time, well done and thanks for taking part. 👏👏👏🙌🥳 3y

Just completed this fifth book in the Malazan series and it was a whole new world built around new characters. The amazing storyline just keeps your attention throughout the series. Connection within connection and the intelligence utilized within the conversation of his characters... 🤯 love it I‘m starting the sixth book tonight 😋 ps thank you @SaturnDoo for the chocolate I‘ve been snacking on 😝

2) my 8th grade teacher and my grandmother 😋
3) anytime anywhere anyplace 🤣
4) turtles all the way down as they all seem realistic and Aza is suffering with a real mental health problem the author (John Green) did a great job with this book.

OwenBanner Okay, so autocorrect had me searching for “midnight toads”, which is a completely different genre. Found it, though, and discovered it was 1000 pages. Would you recommend the audiobook or the print? 7y
Ddzmini @OwenBanner just remember Gardens of the moon is the first book in the series then Deadhouse Gates (I actually read those two in reverse 😳) but it still blew me away 7y
OwenBanner Oooooh, okay, so I‘ve heard of Gardens of the moon. I didn‘t know it was connected. Thanks for catching me. Is the narration worth the audiobook? 7y

I was hesitant to continue with the series when I realized my desire for more of the Bridgeburners would go momentarily unsatisfied. Reluctantly, I pushed on.
Boy, am I glad that I did. This book is fantastic, and an absolute necessity to the series.

I love the Malazan series, somehow Erikson manages it to tell an epic story with many personal stories. Tehol and Bugg were my favourites from this one, their bantering was delightful. Also, the magic system was finally explained a bit, and I am happy that I grasped it correctly from the previous books 😊
