So, so, good. Inventive and enjoyable.
For a sky-based story, the narrative was refreshingly down-to-earth. At first the clipped tone threw me off, but once I got into the story, it made perfect sense. Life for the inhabitants of Updraft is challenging and there isn't room for whimsy or poetic waxing.
The story is fantastical but it's a slow burning mystery coupled with a need for strong world building. That might make it feel slow to progress but it pays off well in the end.
I'm having the hardest time with my attention span (nonexistent) the past week or so, but I managed to finish my pillow case with the last audiobook so not all is lost.
Today I'm going to chill for a bit and continue reading Updraft. I really like it so far, I just wish I wasn't so distracted by everything. Also, I need to get one of those mini clip lights so I can read in the middle of the night when insomnia decides it's wakeup time at 1am 😒
A new book for bedtime. I feel like I should have read more Fran Wilde works by now but I can't think of anything off the top of my head. I really liked the blurb when I picked up the book, and the cover is amazing, so here I go!
Happy reading everyone! 😊
Madison-area Littens! Do you want any of these books? I am moving tomorrow and fixing to haul them to Goodwill, but thought I'd ask around first. If you don't mind coming to pick them up on the SW side, they are yours.

1. Well, I read the tagged book and Lady Fortescue Steps Out (I read slooowww). I guess I liked Updraft better.
2. Four
3. I pronounce it “ant”
4. Trader Joe‘s High Fiber cereal 😂, blueberries, and a hard boiled egg, plus coffee.
5. No problem!

I can‘t remember where I heard about this, but this YA series has a fascinating premise. A city consisting of towers made of bone that grow above the clouds where the citizens are able to fly on artificial wings. I‘m very into world building and stories about interesting cities. #ya #fantasy
Such a great story! I need to pick up the second book! I can't wait to see where Kirit takes her people now!
I'm getting a late start on the #ReadAThon, but I'm kicking off with a book I heard about on the Sword and Laser pod cast! I'm super excited for this read!

Plus Updraft (which is AMAZING) is also on sale! http://www.torforgeblog.com/2017/06/27/updraft-ebook-is-now-on-sale-for-2-99/
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Did the thing where I stayed up late to finish a book, but the tiredness was so worth it 😴This book took advantage of its unique world building to highlight social issues and grapple with how they (and we) treat people, particularly in this book, the disabled. I also enjoyed how Wilde handled privilege and power, the mc's opinions changing as she changed positions. #diversereads
I loved this book. The world created by Fran Wilde is utterly compelling and unique. Kirit, the main character is strong, at times willful but always brave. Highly recommend if you want something different. I can't wait for the sequel!
Another daily deal that sounded too frakkin' good to pass up!!
I'm really loving the world building in this. I'll be finishing it up later today. Here's what I have on tap for the weekend. #updraft #ScarletWitch #NinefoxGambit #Aftermath #LifeDebt #Washington
