This was the low end of the pick scale for me, mainly because, although I‘ve experienced depression, I had a hard time relating to Evans‘ mental health struggles. Although I could empathize, I just didn‘t find this book compelling reading, but it wasn‘t bad and I did finish it. I‘m listening to Manitou Canyon on my #audiowalk. After my trip, I should be back to a more regular walking schedule; it was difficult to do on my vacation.

Any Hoopla fans out there? I have often used it for light (often comics) reading before bed. Right now I am borrowing an audiobook for while I'm doing chores around the house.

What do you use Hoopla for?

tpixie Hoopla seems to have a lot of things that CloudLibrary and Libby do not have. The library joined to get Hoopla quit using it, so I need to go to a nearby town to get a library membership there so I can get Hoopla again! 2y
DivineDiana When I cannot find an audiobook on Libby, I try Hoopla! Sometimes, I‘m successful! 2y
sherri @tpixie Oh no! Hopefully you can find another library to join. It's nice to have options. 2y
sherri @DivineDiana I have Libby but haven't used it much. I need to take some time with it. So many people love it. 2y

Weekend reading. I‘m all over the place, and I guess the title of the tagged book applies to my book choices for today as well!

I appreciate everything that is written because it has a wonderful message about accepting ourselves, and how to deal with anxiety. However, the book has comics that are awkwardly placed in the middle of every chapter. I still enjoyed reading it & it made me feel as if I'm not alone too. She has a great way of putting into words complicated feelings & thoughts that come with dealing with anxiety and depression. It was unexpectedly deep. #bethevans

Not my favorite. I got this on a kindle deal because I love her comics/drawings and I thought the book was going to be purely that which is probably my own fault for thinking that. It‘s a lot more self help and memoir but heavy on the former which just wasn‘t my cup of tea.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a quick but good read that centered on self-love, anxiety, depression, and mental health. Beth Evans throws in bits of humor in this somewhat-serious book and uses her illustrations to bring her words to life. However, one part I was not a fan of was the layout of each chapter, in which the story was interrupted by her illustrations.

I don't think I get it. Getting better. It is the place I want to be, and where I think I'm never going to get to. I am an adult now, so why am I not able to act like one? Thanks for understanding, Beth Evans. Your words and advise will help me on my quest fot betterness, so yeah, thanks

I thought it was going to be about transitioning to adulthood, but it was more about struggling with depression and anxiety. I enjoyed it, but these are not issues that I've had to deal with. Definitely a good resource, though.

Illustrator Beth Evans presents a brief vignettes of struggles growing up with bullies, feeling like she didn‘t fit in, & evolving into an anxiety-ridden semi-adult trying to keep her life on track. Alongside drawings which lay out plans for success like calling a Dr. office, getting dressed or asking for help, this quick read is a friend to others wondering if they‘ll ever be adults, or get lost in stalking successes of friends on the internet.

I have too much familiarity with this... spent most of my younger years feeling worse for having cried under pressure rather than feeling any relief. Loved that this was addressed.
