Gone Missing | Linda Castillo

Linda Castillo's bestselling series has been called "gripping" ["People"] and "impossible to put down" ["Bookpage"] and the "teeth chattering suspense" ["USA Today"] continues with GONE MISSING a deeply chilling novel about a rite of passage gone horribly wrong.Rumspringa is the time when Amish teens are allowed to experience life without the rules. It's an exciting time of personal discovery and growth before committing to the church. But when a young teen disappears without a trace, the carefree fun comes to an abrupt and sinister end, and fear spreads through the community like a contagion. A missing child is a nightmare to all parents, and never more so than in the Amish community, where family ties run deep. When the search for the presumed runaway turns up a dead body, the case quickly becomes a murder investigation. And chief of Police Kate Burkholder knows that in order to solve this case she will have to call upon everything she has to give not only as a cop, but as a woman whose own Amish roots run deep.Kate and state agent, John Tomasetti, delve into the lives of the missing teen and discover links to cold cases that may go back years. But will Kate piece together all the parts of this sinister puzzle in time to save the missing teen and the Amish community from a devastating fate? Or will she find herself locked in a fight to the death with a merciless killer?"

Kate Burkholder series #4. This series is so great. Kate Burkholder is the perfect combination of flawed individual and dedicated police chief. She collaborated with Agent John Tomasetti on a case involving multiple missing Amish teens. The case kept getting bigger and bigger, with increasing suspense. Just when I thought the case was solved, a massive twist was thrown in, and I can‘t wait to see how it plays out in future installments.

#4 in the series and book 53/80 in my challenge.
This series isn't getting any weaker. The characters are strong, and knowledge of The Amis is remarkable.
In every book I find the pages whip by and then before you know it the book is done, gotta love that 📚📚📚❤❤❤

Rumspringa (the period of rebellion for Amish teenagers), a serious of mysterious disappearances, and Chief Burkholder gets called in to assist due to her unique background and experience. The ending was a shocker, and it left matters unfinished (?), so it will be interesting where the story goes from here. Otherwise, intense, fast-paced, emotional and well written. #recentlyread #nospoilers #Amishfiction #femalepolicechief #thrillerseries ⚠️

It‘s the 4th part of a series – which I didn‘t know when I chose it. (But no problem, no significant lack of information.)

I _love_ it. Kate Burkholder 😍, her life with Tomassetti 😍, the Amish “background“ 😍, everyday life being more small town than “big city” 😍.

Another series I like for being more character-/relationship- than investigation-driven.
Need to read/listen to them all now. But I better do in correct order. 😇

Well, I already can see it coming that me and my significant other might be spending most of our weekend under water. 🎮 Really love this game at the moment.

This week once again has been so, so, so exhausting. The job was very asking this past few days and I had so much paperwork to do after work. 🙄 😢 So I‘m really happy that there‘s now time to relax. Who else is❓ @Sarah83 maybe❓😉

Moony Oh at the moment I'm playing #Sims instead of reading 🤣🎮 5y
Buechersuechtling @Moony 14-15 years ago I tried to play “Sims” but I failed epically because I absolutely didn‘t understand the game mechanics. 🤷🏽‍♀️ 😂 Enjoy – the game 🎮 and your weekend. 😘 5y
Moony Thx you also! 5y

Almost through. I love it because I like its “personnel” and all the circumstances and lifestyle(s) presented. It seems to me that one reason why the characters acting are authentic to me, is that the plot is mostly set in small(er) communities and villages/cities. That makes it feel more “real“ than any “usual“ New-York-/L.A.-/Chicago-crime case.

But, oh dear, I was like 🙄 when Kate discovered “the” connection, yesterday. It‘s _so_ obvious‼️

Yepp, I have a bit a crush on this one. Can‘t hardly turn it off. Honestly, I called it an early night yesterday, just to continue listening.

I really adore Linda Castillo‘s powers of observation. Some passages really move me.

This seems to be part of a series around Painters Mill and Kate Burkholder – which I didn‘t know until I realised it by listening to the story. But that doesn‘t matter to me because the connection to earlier incidents is explained very well.

I got interested in the plot because since I watched “Witness” (🇩🇪 „Der einzige Zeuge“) years ago I found the Amish lifestyle fascinating. So it was that buzzword that made me put it on my with list.

I just can‘t get enough of this series. I started reading an ARC but the whole time I thought of the next book in the Kate Burkholder series. So I guess I‘m going to read this and the ARC? 😳👍🤓

Fourth in the Kate Burkholder series, Castillo had me in suspense again. Amish teenagers are disappearing and it's not related to Rumspringa. Fast paced and full of twists (including the cliffhanger ending), I can't recommend this series enough, especially on audio. (Pic via Internet). #crime #suspense #audiobook

Left a pile of books on the bed, so the fiance tucked them in. I always had books in my bed, rather than stuffed animals!

Burkholder and Tomasetti investigate the disappearance of several Amish teenagers during rumspringa. It was rather obvious why the teenagers were chosen but it seemed to take forever for the investigators to catch on. Overall still readable. Rating: 4/5
