Miss Frost Solves a Cold Case: A Nocturne Falls Mystery
Miss Frost Solves a Cold Case: A Nocturne Falls Mystery | Kristen Painter
16 posts | 19 read | 11 to read
Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost's daughter, Santa Claus's niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now...private investigator. Sort of. Needing someone he can trust, her father sends her undercover to Nocturne Falls to find out why employees at the Santa's Workshop toy store are going missing. Doing that requires getting to know the town, which leads to interesting encounters with a sexy vampire, an old flame, and an elevator that's strictly off-limits. The more Jayne finds out, the more questions she has, but the answers lead her deeper into danger. Will her magic save her? Or will she come up cold?

This eight-book series was included with my Audible subscription a while back. Jayne Frost is the daughter of Jack Frost, which makes her North Pole royalty. She is sent to Nocturne Falls, GA to discover why snow elves are disappearing. She solves that mystery and all the other mysteries in the series. Then she falls in love and has a romantic North Pole wedding to necromancer Sinclair Crowe, ending the Jayne Frost Series which (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 is followed by the new Frost and Crowe series, which I‘ve started recently. Both have been great fun! (edited) 12mo

Jayne Frost — elf, daughter of Jack Frost (the Winter King) and niece of Saint Nick — is sent to a town of mostly supernatural creatures to investigate the disappearance of several elves from Santa‘s workshop. This was a fun and very light mystery. Audible labels it #1 in the series, but reviews of it sound like it may have been published as a prequel. The series is part of Audible‘s Plus catalog.

Such a cute little book about elves living amongst us and working in a toy shop. A clever idea and well executed. Not something I would read a lot of (I‘m more of a grisly murder fan) but it was intriguing, the mystery was satisfactorily solved in the final pages, and a bit of enjoyable, light reading for a change.

This was my first introduction to Nocturne Falls, but I don't think it'll be my last trip into this town. Love how much elves love sweets, and love the suave vampires and the hot summer elves. #WinterGames2020 #MerryReaders @Clwojick #HolidayReads

This was a fun festive story with an interesting mystery. The plot is steady but builds to a clever finish. The ending was well done and I liked how it left the reader wanting another story. 25pts for holiday read #MerryReaders #WinterGames2020 plus 30 pts for #FestiveFlicks so 56pts 4*

Jayne Frost is the Winter Princess and she‘s going undercover to see why elves keep disappearing in Nocturne Falls. Along the way she‘ll catch the attention of a sexy vampire and her ex. Also she‘ll discover a place where supernatural creatures are allowed to be themselves. +16 #TeamHarkness #Scarathlon2020 #LittenListen

Cute, cozy and sweet paranormal mystery, predictable but easy reading. Enjoyable if you are looking for something quick and easy to digest 👍🏼

I wanted to love this, the idea was great. However it moved slow and my attention wandered. I returned it at 50% to audible and feel a bit bad about that as I've never done so before.

I‘m truly enjoying this audio find.

MeganAnn I love this series! Jayne is such a fun character and I‘d love to live in Nocturne Falls. These books are completely addicting for me. 😁🎃✨ If you like this series, I highly recommend also reading the Nocturne Falls series starting with 6y
Peddler410 Thanks, @MeganAnn ! I loved this as an audiobook and after the audio sneak peek of your tagged suggestion, I think I‘ll give it a try. On audio. I don‘t think I have the patience to read these in print/ebook. (edited) 6y

Another audiobook finished. I enjoyed this cozy mystery. I haven‘t read any of the Nocturne Falls series but didn‘t feel lost in this first in series spin-off.

Fun, fast read with solid character development. There‘s quite a bit of humor but it‘s not over-the-top. There‘s a mystery as well as Jayne‘s story of finding friends and something she‘s good at, and a love triangle has been established for future books. I‘m not familiar with the Nocturne Falls books but I‘d be willing to give those a try and continue this series.

Thanks to @DarcysMom pointing out this freebie I‘ve had a relaxing time reading. The circled quote made me giggle a bit. Nicely done, boobs! Ha! It looks like I‘m not the only one because it‘s been highlighted 15 times. This one will count as my #cozymystery for #Booked2018 too!

jpmcwisemorgan I‘m reading this one now! 7y
DarcysMom @jpmcwisemorgan How is it so far? 7y
jpmcwisemorgan It‘s not bad, had a decent level of humor that‘s not grating. I‘m about half way through and so far I think it‘s good enough to try the next book. It‘s a good book to use after something heavier, which is usually what I use cozies for. 7y

Although mainly set in Nocturn Falls, this first-in-a-spin-off-series is a mystery. Elf employees are going missing, and Jayne Frost goes in undercover to find out why...
Overall, a decent mystery, and lovely to see a MC with a secret make sensible decisions about it!
