The illustrations in the Star Wars Shakespeare books are just the best! I‘m reading The Last Jedi one now.
Finally home from work so I can get back to reading! Warm book pjs and a good book make for a great night! #24in48
Ive read the character list and the chorus only, but i already can tell that this is gonna be among my favorite parodies, even books, of Star Wars lore. #currentlyreading
I still love these, the pinnacle of geekdom I know, Star Wars retold as a Shakespearean play, you‘d think it‘d be old now that we‘re on the 8th installment, but no Doescher still throws surprises into these and you can tell he‘s having fun. Chewy talks, R2 snarks, Yoda uses Haiku, Poe sneaks in some of his literary namesake, and then you‘ll be reading along and realize there‘s some Donne, a homage to Ian Fleming, the murderers dialogue... (cont.)
That‘s why I love these....the fun liberties he takes. In the film, The Master Codebreaker is seen from afar by Finn and Rose, they never get to talk to him, but see him talking with his adoring fans.
Ian Doescher gives him lines, and plays them all off another Ian‘s (Ian Fleming) famous works, of 007 James Bond titles.
No matter what form, this part always works for me.
Hahaha...Shakespeare, Star Wars, and lets just throw some John Donne in there too. Tricky Mr. Doescher and so clever. 🤓
Although I usually wait for these on audiobook, read by a full cast with Star Wars sound effects,I am completely loving these little drawings.
Doescher‘s version of the classic opening scrawl, I do so love these editions. Such a great mix between Star Wars and Shakespeare.
May the fourth be with you!!
