This book takes the standard ‘small group on a mission‘ trope and… does not do much with it. Poe Dameron is brave, feisty, and a good leader, but this tale is not very original, harboring few surprises. Pretty much only for STAR WARS fans; anyone else can find more fun and adventure elsewhere.

Here is the schedule for the next seven months of #StarWarsBuddyRead In January we head back to the High Republic. In February we head off with The Bad Batch. Then in March we learn how Qi'ra joined Crimson Dawn. In April its Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra. And lastly in May - July its legends time with Thrawn.

Apparently I disturbed her by grabbing my book to read. First #starwarsbuddyread in a long time that I either owned already or a local library had. So far it's a quick read that I am enjoying.

I think we have established that Justina Ireland knows what she's doing and she knows how to write. She especially knows how to write good female characters. Loved this volume. Many familiar names popping up or even having a cameo (Deva!), lots of character growth and a slowly growing friendship, that really touched me.

This one is a pretty quick adventure. Dass and Rooper are the main protagonists since they're the youngest and have the most need to grow, comparatively.

I like the themes of the book and I like seeing an older version of the Jedi. It's not revolutionary and it could've had more detail, but I enjoyed it as it is 🙂

In October we finished up with the High Republic. I'm still waiting on my library hold. How did y'all like it?
In November we move on to The Acolyte Wayseeker.
I'm looking forward to it. I hope y'all enjoy it.
