Trying something out of my comfort zone today. 🌀 I love horror but haven‘t read anything like this before. 🤞🏻

TieDyeDude I'll be interested to see what you think. He's been on my radar. I've heard his visuals are pretty extreme, and I'm not normally a fan of “manga“, but I'm still intrigued. 2mo
Bookwomble This was the first Junji Ito I read - it's really good, but there are definitely some 🤮 images! 2mo

This horror manga is about a spiral consuming a town. It revolves around Kirie Goshima, her boyfriend, and her family. The chapters read like short stories, and showcase how this spiral entity is wreaking havoc on the town of Kurouzu-cho. Most chapters are dark, grotesque, and disgustingly mind-blowing. Others are campy and just plain gross. It definitely gave me the creeps which i take as a sign of a great horror!

My Junji Ito collection… IT GROWS.

phantomx I'm only missing Remina Hellstar and Frankentstein (maybe Smashed too). Another collection is coming out later this year! 3y
SkeletonKey @phantomx - Yay, another fan. I have the new one on preorder 😆 There are still a few others I‘m missing too but they‘re on my wishlist. 3y
phantomx I love Junji Ito's works. I cried at the end of Uzumaki (most people think you shouldn't cry when reading or watching horror, but I do sometimes). The other ones I'm missing are Twisted Visions and Venus in the Blindspot. Oh, there's also No Longer Human 3y

This is the first manga I‘ve read and I‘m not sure how to feel about. The art and gore was obviously amazing, but the story seemed convoluted and nonsensical. I feel like the plot was all over the place and I was often confused..

Beautiful art in this horror graphic novel by Junji Ito. I can't wait to get into the story on this one! I've heard it's really good.

#creepychristmas

2. I cannot get over how creepy this is, so strange and twisted and Lovecraftian. That town just lives in my head rent-free now.

3. I think my opinions are pretty basic. I love cheesy 90s slasher movies - scream, final destination etc

4. Ghosts are the best, they‘re so classic and you can do so much with them. Vampires are a close second

5. I love scented candles if they‘re soy so im not allergic! Also love pretty notebooks

BookishTrish Love Uzumaki!!!! 4y
veritysalter Ghosts was my answer too, I wonder if it‘s because they retain an aspect of humanity that makes them so frightening? 4y

This was my very first manga and boy was it good!😍😍 Ming blowing horror with the scariest illustrations. The plot was so fast paced and so good, I couldn't stop reading. Horror fans don't miss this one! 5/5

Bizarre! Some truly horrific death scenes and all around unsettling. The linework is very nice and the authors note at the end mentions they made this into a live-action movie. Curious about that, though some of the imagery might come off as cheesy. Unsure about continuing the series.

BookishTrish I liked the whole thing. I say press on. 7y
winemom It‘s really odd, especially if this is your first encounter with Junji Ito. I loved the artwork! Tomi is better, but much more gory. 7y
night_shift @BookishTrish I've heard that, but also the opposite. Ilk have to see if my library has the rest and let that determine. @winemom it IS really odd! But I'm familiar with body horror and Japanese horror so it want shocking or anything. I've heard Tomi is better a second time now, thanks! 7y
RiaWritten I loved it. And the live action movie is wild. The casting was freaking impeccable. 7y
night_shift @SewItGoes well, that's aa good a recommendation as any 😂 I'll have to find it! 7y

This #horror #manga was an amazing book! The writing is tight and well laid out, creating a terrifying experience from the beginning of each chapter to its end. With a mix of psychological horror and body horror, this book has something for all horror fans. I can't wait to get the next volume to see where the story goes!
