Nice classic
#BookBinge
Catching up since I need to focus on something else this week.
I have not read any Deborah Crombie but we share a first name (different spellings) & she‘s also a case where the #AuthorSharesYrInitials I actually have this book on my Kindle TBR. 🤷🏻♀️
This is a classic who done it. Interesting charactersand a good story line. I enjoyed it.
This one is a little bittersweet. For one thing it‘s almost the end of #20series20days
Also, I remember listening to the audiobook on my way home from work in late February in preparation for book club and to “tune my ear” for a trip to UK in late March. Instead, book club was canceled that month, and the trip has been postponed indefinitely.
Nevertheless I enjoyed it very much and plan to take up the series again eventually.

I‘ve read 8 of these but need to get back to this series. Excellent writer, interesting characters.

Scotland Yard investigator, Duncan Kincaid, is on a relaxing vacation at his Yorkshire timeshare. When someone mysteriously dies in the swimming pool, Duncan goes into investigation mode. When a second death occurs, the game is on. This is one of the better “cozy mysteries“ that I‘ve read. I‘m going to have to put Debora Crombie on my TBR list.
Recommended by Anne Bogel, this is the first book in a British mystery series that‘s somewhere in the middle between dark/gritty and sweet/cozy. There‘s also a hint of some nice interaction to come between the two main characters. I‘m glad I listened to the audiobook version, as the narrator did a good job with various accents that helped “tune my ear” for my trip to the UK for #readingretreat2020 in a few weeks.
This is the first Kincaid and James mystery and I enjoyed it. A good start to the series. It was a little slow to begin, but reads quite quickly. I found the story to be clever and the characters engaging. Now to binge read the rest of the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was looking for a new detective series, but this is a bit too cosy for my liking, so I think I'll leave it here.
Wow, I devoured this first mystery in the Kincaid and James series. I‘ve been searching for a new mystery series after finishing up Martha Grimes a couple years back, and I think this might be what I was looking for. Written in 1993, this one feels classic without being too dated— plus, my library has them on audio on #Libby! #audiobook #mystery #procedural
My first Kincaid and Duncan book - I get a bit obsessive about starting in order with new mystery series, even though I don‘t have to. I enjoyed this and found it unpredictable. I‘ll be reading more, definitely. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the 1st book of the Duncan Kincaid & Gemma James Mystery series which is another of my favorite series. This series started in 1993 and now has 17 books of which I have read 8. I enjoy the relationship between Kincaid & James and it‘s best to read these books in order and watch their relationship grow. The books have a Christie feel to them and I enjoy them very much. You should give them a try. You won‘t be sorry!
The weather is nice and the tablet is charging, so I‘m taking a break from manuscripts and soaking up some sun with a tasty beverage and the first in this series. I‘ve read some of the later installments but I figure it‘s time to start from the beginning!
Started this series with the 17th book and loved it, so here I am back at the beginning💃🏻
Super fun cozy mystery. I picked it up after a few tougher reads-it was perfect for that. British setting. Awesome detectives in Duncan and Gemma. Poor Duncan thought he was going on vacation only to end up with a couple of murders to solve while there. Duncan is on the page most in this first installment-I‘m ready to see more of Gemma in books to come!
My recent audiobook picks have been 40+ hours so this 7-hour selection is a nice change.
Finished the first book in the series (after an interruption of waiting to get it from the library again after it expired)! Looking forward to continuing. #audiobook
Starting my first Crombie and so far I like it. Any thoughts from readers of Deborah Crombie out there? #audiobooks #mystery
Always with the hotel gyms and my audiobooks ❤️🎧
This was pretty good. Not a lot of action, but I enjoyed the characters and the plot kept me guessing. Think I'll try the next one out!
Start of a new mystery series for me....always excited to see where it will lead. 😊
As I said here before, I've dipped into Deborah Crombie's Kincaid/James series off and on, and decided to spend this lazy Sunday reading the book that started it all. Share in Death introduces us to DS Kincaid and Sergeant James before they were Duncan and Gemma. It's a decent mystery, and kept me guessing to the end. An auspicious start to an excellent series.
Another great deep dive for summer. This is the first of 17 Duncan and Gemma mysteries set in and around modern London and Scotland. There's a police procedural element, lots of engrossing human drama, and a good balance of tough realism and hope for humanity. You'll want to eat them like candy.
