The Love Letter
The Love Letter | Lucinda Riley
Keeping secrets is a dangerous game . . . 1995, London. When Sir James Harrison, one the greatest actors of his generation, passes away at the age of ninety-five he leaves behind not just a heartbroken family but also a secret so shocking, so devastating that it could rock the English establishment to its core . . . Joanna Haslam is an ambitious young journalist, assigned to cover the legendary actors funeral. The great and the good of the celebrity world are there. But Joanna stumbles on something dark beneath the glamour: the mention of a letter James Harrison has left behind, the contents of which others have been desperate to conceal for over seventy years. As she peels back the veil of lies that has shrouded the secret, she realizes that there are other forces attempting to prevent her from discovering the truth. And theyll stop at nothing to reach the letter before she does. The Love Letter is a thrilling novel full of secrets, lies and unforgettable twists. from the internationally bestselling author, Lucinda Riley. *This title was originally published as Seeing Double.*

I'm on a binge of Lucinda Riley at the moment and really enjoyed this novel. Its fast paced and unusual with both historical and modern spy twists. I wasn't a huge fan of a couple of the characters but I don't think that took away from the interesting plot and very readable prose. Riley creates networks of characters and worlds that I instantly feel part of no matter the setting. Very enjoyable.

4.5 🌟 I read this 600 page book in a day. Typical Lucinda Riley. She had me at the first sentence and held my attention till the last sentence . Something about her writing is just good. Joanne is a journalist who is on to the story of a lifetime, one that will possibly tear down the English monarchy,. Lots of twists and turns. Highly satusfying

catebutler Ooh! This sounds good! 5y
Crazeedi @catebutler I recommend all her books. The seven sisters series she wrote is excellent too!! 5y

This puts todays total at 2hrs 38mins

TrishB I have The Seven Sisters ready too, not tried this author yet. 6y
LeeRHarry I enjoyed The Seven Sisters but it took a bit of commitment 😊 6y
laurieluna @TrishB this was really good. It had a lot more death than I thought it would. I expected a romantic mystery but it was so much more. I'm itching to read her other stuff now! 6y

Only 3hrs 28mins altogether yesterday.
Already clocked 1hr 18mins this morning, though I am dog tired so I doubt I'll get much more done. I have about 10% of the tagged book left so I hope to at least finish that!
I knew it would be a total wash out, but it was good to attempt it! 😥

Cathythoughts This is a great attempt 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 6y
laurieluna @Cathythoughts thanks Cathy! I'm thinking even if I hit 8 hours I'll be pleased 😊 xx 6y

#24in48 pile! Continuing Circe, Voyager and The Love Letter (kindle) Miss Pettigrew I got at the #yorklitsymeetup, The Lost World I got from @TCLinrow for the #conandoyleswap, Secondhand Spirits was a recommendation from @Tiffy_Reads and The Breakthrough was a gift from @Sorceryandswords so it is a very Litsy influenced pile! 😄 I love that so many books I own now have a story ❤

DuckOfDoom Secondhand spirits was lovely 😀 I have to search my TBR pile for something relaxing for the 24in48, too. 6y

Reading plans! Didn't make it half way through these but I did finish Dubliners and The Survival Game. Busy weekend of a wedding and sorting house. My aim this week is to finish one of these, and also either the tagged book, or my other kindle read, Before We Were Yours. 📚📚📚

margreads Voyager is my favourite Outlander book 6y

I found this quite the page turner, although I did think some of it was far fetched. It‘s action packed and fast paced with loads of twists and turns. It reminded me of a cross between James Bond and Mission Impossible! It involves the MI5 and there‘s the odd dodgy spy. It‘s entertaining and exciting. There are some big and bold characters, most of whom are likeable, and a few not always who they seem. A fun and enthralling read.
