Another enjoyable book in the series. I especially liked the parts where Uhtred was talking to the priest about the poem.

#Two4Tuesday again, a day late 🤦♀️
(1) Tagged. Haven't quite finished it yet, but almost.
(2) The Essex Serpent bored me, so I DNFed it.
Thanks for the tag @TheSpineView @The_Penniless_Author ☺️
I enjoyed this, but for the first time in this series, I felt that Bernard Cornwell was beginning to run out of steam, that the novel was not as interesting as the others. It was inconsistent too in tone and a mismatch with the others books. Uhtred had won back Babbenburg, but there was a disregard for him at the Witan, that this powerful warrior was being disregarded. Weird. 3/5
Uhtred has grown old. He is finally home, but beset on all sides by kingdoms that wish to add Bebbanburg to their swathes of territory. Cornwell has given us another thrilling chapter in medieval England through the eyes of his hero. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘ve waited pretty much all year for the NYPL to renew its ebook license for this book, so I just went ahead and borrowed the audiobook. Since I had already gotten 80% through the book, I just needed it to end already.
I thought that Utred will retired after he took back Bebbanburg but his fate seem that he will keep fighting untill he die untill he meet with Gisela in Valhala.
Sometimes Cornwell turns a phrase that makes me chuckle. #Uhtred #SaxonSeries
The latest in Cornwell's Saxon Tales. Not my favorite of the series but another good story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg.
This is number 11 of a series that probably should have stopped at 9. I thought 10 was maybe a blip - it was ok - but the blip has carried on going down.
1-9 of the series are awesome, but Uthred is 60 now and maybe should be retiring 🤷♀️
Disappointed.
Confused by 65% 5 stars on Amazon- fans who don‘t want to criticise?
My #NovemberWrapUp. I read 11 books this month and up to 78 for the year! I tried to put the images in order from favorite to least but they were all good. I got The Hearts Invisible Furies in just under the wire, finishing it at 11:30 last night. Still counts for November!
"The sun was shining, but I felt as though strorm- dark clouds were shrouding the world, and I just sat in the saddle not moving..."
I am very familiar with that feeling. A feeling of darkness rising around you when you should be happy and everything is beautiful, of suddenly feeling cursed.
Only 9 pages in and the reoccurring quote of the book appears. Uhtred's catchphrase translates to "Fate is inexorable". I got it tattooed on my inner arm a few years ago. Anyone else have a book tattoo? I know a lot of you lovely people must.
My favorite series has a new installment! I don't know why but I really thought this wasn't coming out until January but it came out last month. Long story short I splurged and bought it for myself tonight. Time to take a break The Heart's Invisible Furies and start this.
