“Uh oh... I see you're feeling something new. You look different, Color Monster! Tell me... how do you feel now?“

I love using this book for children because it not only goes over emotions it also goes to show colors. Here the kids can now associate colors with feelings and show the different ways to express their emotions.
The Color Monster by Anna Llenas published a picture book in 2012. This is a story about Color Monster awakening and feeling incredibly perplexed. He experiences a wide range of emotions at once, including anger, happiness, calmness, sadness, and fear. He has to figure out how to deal with his emotions by using colors. The images bring the story to life with the dull white background and the different colors popping off the page.
An activity for this book could be coloring a monster with a color that resembles how you feel!
This is a great book for encouraging children to open up and discuss their emotions. It is also great for teaching colors and feelings as well!
This page caused a catharsis about recess. An 8 year old's aha moment.
The Color Monster: A Story About Emotions written by Anna Llenas is such a great fictional picture book that would be great for a RA. It expresses a great story about emotions with colorful illustrations the children will be engaged in. https://www.cpalms.org/Public/PreviewStandard/Preview/5857 This standard links great with the main idea of the story as it is to express thoughts and feelings clearly.

I disagree with this book. Blue is my calm. I did enjoy how it shed light on all emotions.
#bbrc #A2Z:C I liked the collage style illustrations- very interesting to look at, and sparks ideas as to a craft to do with this story. But I feel like you‘d have to be a little careful with this. It teaches separating your emotions, literally putting them in different jars, but kids should know that it‘s okay to feel different emotions at the same time, you know?
#AMonthOfSongs Day 17: Fats‘ review: “a little girl helps her color monster friend “sort” his feelings. His emotions were all over the place. His colors were all jumbled up! He was having mixed emotions and he didn‘t know why!” Perfect for #InMyFeelings. Full review of this gorgeous pop-up book: https://wp.me/pDlzr-cC2
