Starred by PW and SLJ! Now in paperback, Rachel Ward's gripping debut psycho-thriller that pairs futuristic sci-fi with a tender, touchingly real love story. Includes a teaser to the sequel! Ever since the day her mother died, Jem has known about the numbers. Numbers that pop into her head when she looks into someone's eyes. They're dates, the numbers. Dates predicting with brute accuracy each person's death. Burdened by such horrible knowledge, Jem avoids relationships. Until she meets Spider, another outsider, and takes a chance. Maybe they can find happiness together, if only in the brief time that remains before his expiration date. But on a trip to London, Jem foresees a chilling chain of events: The city's a target. The clock's running out. The countdown is on to a blowup!

Pickpick

This book was really good! I was a bit intimidated by how big it was (cause I never finish big books) but it was really easy to fly through. It does have some mature content (as in sexual content and swearing) so I wouldn‘t suggest it to someone that doesn‘t feel comfortable reading that stuff. But anyways, the book was very good and I‘d recommend it to almost anyone. :)

I didn‘t know that this is a middle book of a trilogy – which is a good thing because it means that it can be read as a standalone and doesn‘t cause the feeling of having missed relevant parts. But it might also explain why I‘m at odds with the plot.

I figured the “big issue” right from the beginning, and yeah the descriptions in the second half are gripping and impressive. They build something to remember.

But: What‘s the frame-story again❓🤔

The narrators are great. They‘re really voice-acting the situations – especially Sascha Icks who‘s reading Sarah‼️ There‘s no need to say something about Philipp Schepmann, is there❓😉

But I‘m not sure what to make of the story. I feel for Adam, his tortures are vivid and scary to me. But being halfway through his constant encounters with the police start annoying me. 🙄 Hope, he and Sarah meet soon so that the story then picks up pace.

Guess who‘s late for #ThoughtfulThursday (again) …

👩‍❤️‍👨 • The holiday my significant other and I wanted to spend together in the end of April • My own rehab (no, none on drugs 😂) • My friend‘s really big birthday party

📚 • The Housekeeper and the Professor • Numbers (🎧📖) • Frisky Business

💗 • Trying new recipes • Some of the daily tasks related to the 21-days-of-abundance-meditation my friend has invited me to

MoonWitch94 Thanks for playing ❤️💗☺️ 4y
Buechersuechtling @MoonWitch94 Never mind. Rather than “Thanks for playing.” it should be “Thanks for setting this up constantly.” 🤗 4y

Downloaded this audiobook to have something to listen to while I drive to my in-service training. But things didn‘t quite turn as expected.

I haven‘t started yet and I‘m a bit in doubt that I manage to be through with it within the 3 remaining days of the lending period but I stay positive. – We‘ll see.

Bless goodreads and their quotes collection (although, some filter options would be nice so I don‘t have to scroll through pages for books I‘ve read). #quotsyjune18 #repeat

Ever since she was child, Jem has kept a secret: Whenever she meets someone new, no matter who, as soon as she looks into their eyes, a number pops into her head. That number is a date: the date they will die.

I liked this book. It gets terrible reviews, I picked it up because Half Price had it on clearance for $2.00, and I don't regret it. It was ok, an interesting plot, but I won't continue the series. 🌟🌟🌟 3/5 stars.

CynCruz23 It's always good to read these sort of books, it helps to cleanse your palate 👍 and half price too, no problem! 8y
HiddenGemBooks @CynCruz23 right!? Half Price Books is my sanctuary and it's the best place to find cheap indie/underrated books under $4. Untapped books just upset me because they're ignored in the shadows of popular/mainstream literature. 8y
Readingismyescape I have this book sitting on my shelf for months. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I guess there's no hurry. Plenty of other books on my shelves, my kindle, my library holds list, my tbr list, etc.... 8y
