pickI‘ve had this book on my kindle for so long. I‘ve met both authors & like both of their books. This is a Thelma & Louise type of story, with both young adults running away from family problems. An adventure, coming-of-age story, with lots of close calls with danger. A fun read, but I really had to suspend my disbelief that these girls wouldn‘t get caught. Actually got a bingo for #bookspin this month. 3.5/5 ⭐️

I listened to Hello Girls by Brittany Cavallaro and Emily Henry. Two high school seniors in toxic families leave to make a better lives for themselves. Entertaining but not a lot of depth. 3.5 stars
I got a kitten. 😊
My siblings actually rescued her from the cold. She had a lid stuck on her head and her leg was also stuck in it.
The tip of one of her ears is frostbit and she has a scar on her foot but otherwise she‘s very happy and healthy.
It‘s been nice reading and cuddling with her.
She‘s so chill and so sweet. 💜
My fingers are crossed that she and my 4 year old cat will like each other though. 😬🤞🏻
My reading has been kind of all over the place the last couple of days, but I'm just glad it's *happening*.
I learned about the #stayhomereadingrush #readathon (4/16 - 4/19) after watching one of Ariel Bissett's videos on YouTube and let's be honest... I'm not very good at readathons or TBRs for that matter, but I am filled with good intentions about both.
So up above is my #currentlyreading batch o' books and I'm gonna give it an honest go.
pickI‘m going to start by saying that the plot is unrealistic in a lot of parts, but that was the point.. Two best friends from completely different backgrounds run away together on a wild Thelma and Louise like mission. The story is full of twists and turns and driven female rage. I loved the intensity of the two main characters and how they take charge of their lives after being fed up with their destinies always being controlled by abusive men.
pickThe first half of this book was engrossing and I liked it, but didn‘t love it and wanted more. I felt like Winona had more of a distinctive voice, compared to Lucille, and the abusive parent storyline was very authentic.

This book is so good. Very entertaining and an easy read. It follows two friends and their road trip.
Next on audio. I admit, I did not expect Julia Whelan to narrate this one, but she always does it so well.
pickWinona and Lucille are best friends. They are both sick and tired out being mistreated and abused so decide it is time to leave home and go find Winona's mom in Vegas. The only problem is they don't have any money. This book reminded a little bit of Thelma and Louise the YA version.
pickTW: THERE'S EMOTIONAL & PHYSICAL ABUSE IN FIRST 1/3!
Basic run down: 2 girls from very different backgrounds runaway from their dangerous homes and go on a road trip hoping to find one of their mother's. The girls support and love each other through thick and thin. They're hella smart and don't put up with crap once they hit the road.
I'm not generally someone who enjoys contemporaries as a whole but I whipped through this book in a few hours.

This book is equal parts crazy girl power and insanely improbable circumstance. The dialog is oftentimes like Gilmore Girls on a crack bender. I'm enjoying it immensely.
pickSo insanely good there really aren't any words. It's a badass, friendship, roadtrip, say "fuck off" to all your abusers book and it could not be better.
Lucille and Winona are brilliant.
