The Illustrated Good Omens
The Illustrated Good Omens | Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett
13 posts | 7 read | 4 to read
There is a hint of Armageddon in the air. According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (recorded, thankfully, in 1655, before she blew up her entire village and all its inhabitants, who had gathered to watch her burn), the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. So the Armies of Good and Evil are massing, the four Bikers of the Apocalypse are revving up their mighty hogs and hitting the road, and the world's last two remaining witchfinders are getting ready to Fight the Good Fight. Atlantis is rising. Frogs are falling. Tempers are flaring, and everything appears to be going to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not particularly looking forward to the coming Rapture. They've lived amongst Humanity for millennia, and have grown rather fond of the lifestyle. So if Crowley and Aziraphale are going to stop it from happening, they've got to find and kill the AntiChrist (which is a shame, really, as he's a nice kid). There's just one glitch: someone seems to have misplaced him. This edition features a new revised text, approved by Neil Gaiman and the Pratchett Estate, which clears up many typos and errors from previous editions. It also features twelve full colour illustrations from Paul Kidby - Terry Pratchett's artist of choice - and a plethora of line drawings.

This illustrated edition of Good Omens is even more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! 😍💕📚 Now I have three copies of the book - a mass market paperback with Aziraphale on the cover (my original copy!), a paperback edition with Crowley on the cover, and this one! 😁

GingerAntics It‘s hard to describe this edition, it‘s just so lovely. 3y
BookishMarginalia How pretty! 3y
rosalita Oh, that looks fabulous! I've got that white one on the far left, so I'll probably have to make do with it for now. 😁 3y

@Branwen it took some doing to get my phone to focus on the pages. You can see they‘re fairly regular throughout. I know there is a little drawing of Crowley‘s Bentley in there somewhere. The full page illustrations are a nice glossy paper, too. So it just looks and feels high quality.

Branwen Woooooooow! 😍 Okay, I really think I need to get this! 4y

@Branwen of course, these two were SO perfect, Kidby did use them as inspiration for their characters...as it should be.

AND THIS CONCLUDES MY SPAMMING YOUR FEED (for tonight)

Branwen *faints* THE BOYS! 😍😍😍💖 4y
GingerAntics @Branwen when I saw those, I was SO excited!!! The Them look TOTALLY different from the show, as do pretty much all of the other illustrations. Famine does seem to take a little bit of inspiration from the show, but not nearly as much as for these two. *fans self* 4y

@Branwen this is another book I now have in EVERY possibly format. This illustrated edition is GORGEOUS!!! I love that Kidby didn‘t feel the need to match the show. He stuck with the original descriptions of the characters for his inspiration.

Branwen Omg. OMG. I need this desperately! What is it like? Do you love it? Are the illustrations wonderful? Are there many of them? 4y
GingerAntics @Branwen I adore it!!! If you look at the edges of the pages, you can kind of see these regularly spaced, full page illustrations. That‘s mostly what I‘ve seen. I‘m not sure about in between quite yet. Obviously I need to read this book again so I can find out. lol 4y

Another one from the illustrated Good Omens. I've loved the book since I first read it in 2006. The show has been a balm.

🤣🤣🤣 Oh, Amazon, your little bots are a tad off on this classification.

Although, religious studies class might have been more interesting had Good Omens been on the syllabus! 🤣

Scochrane26 😂 5y
Graywacke Maybe they asked the authors how to classify it? 🙂 5y
KathyWheeler That‘s very odd.😄 (edited) 5y

wanderinglynn @Graywacke 🤣 That would make it funnier because I could totally see Gaiman saying in his proper British accent “of course Amazon, Good Omens IS a religious studies book.” 5y
julesG 😂😂😂 5y
Graywacke @wanderinglynn 🙂 that just brings up a whole bunch of entertaining possible conversations. 5y
GingerAntics 🤣😂🤣 I guess you could look at it as a study of the absurdity of some of the things people believe. 🤣😂🤣 I‘d take that class!!! 5y

DS9 7.19, #StrangeBedfellows 3/9 in the final arc. A transitional episode, on the weaker side, directed by René Auberjonois. Ezri & Worf are Dominion prisoners because the Breen changed sides. Marks when Damar chooses to change sides. Dukat reaches new hights of creapiness.

Can I gush about Crowley and Aziraphale? The book is so good, and the series is so fun! These two never actually share a bed, but they love each other so!

#startreksummerjune

Megabooks Is this the book Amazon made a series from? I should have known it was it was third. Inter arma enim silent leges is the last “regular” episode. I think my favorite of the arc is The Changing Face of Evil. I didn‘t particularly care for the Worf/Ezri storyline. 5y
tournevis @Megabooks Why yes, it's the book the series is from and both are equally great. I know what you mean about the Ezri/Worf/Julian storyline. It's all so unnecessary. 5y
