Death: The Time of Your Life
Death: The Time of Your Life | Neil Gaiman
10 posts | 30 read | 17 to read
Written by Neil Gaiman; Art by Chris Bachalo, Mark Buckingham, and others Death incarnate, as defined by master storyteller Neil Gaiman (THE SANDMAN), is a genuinely likeable young girl with a fondness for ankhs who truly cares about people. It's small wonder then that when a rising star of the music world wrestles with revealing her true sexual orientation just as her lover is lured into the realm of Death that Death herself should make an appearance. A practical, honest, and intelligent story that illuminates the miracle of death.

Beautiful, a fitting amount of dark and sad. I feel like it says something about Gaiman that his Death is more approachable than his Dream. Or maybe it's just a reflection of humanity's hope to greet Death as a friend. The art gallery at the end is stunning, those artists who chose to keep her slight smile worked best for me. The sex ed mini comic is such an amazing thing to see included. The rep and the topics covered: ❤️.

#LittensDressedInBlood: Here‘s a reaper you don‘t need to fear! Yes, she‘ll take you when your time is up, but she‘s cheerful and compassionate about it. Plus, she‘s a cute goth girl so at least you have something pleasant to look at when you go!

Again another re-read for me. I have been feeling nostalgic for the 90s. I read this on March 12 & gave it 4 ⭐️. This story follows the events of The High Cost of Living but can be read on its own. My one complaint is that this story could have been slightly longer. It‘s still gorgeous though,

Time to switch up formats for the @24in48 readathon!

TheLibrarian Love this. Death is my favorite 😍 6y
HardcoverHearts I used to work in a comic book store in SF and so this was a lovely revisiting of an old classic that I hadn't picked up in decades, @TheLibrarian. I forgot how silly and sunny her character is. Such good writing on Gaiman's part. 6y

I really enjoyed this collection. I have read quite a few Sandman comics, but this is the first time I have read any of the Death comics. The story lines are decent. Neil Gaiman really knows how to write an engaging comic. Death is lovable as always. She might be the most genuinely likeable comic character ever. The deluxe edition has a ton of extra artwork included.

GondorGirl Your review pushes the Death comics even higher on my TBR list! 6y

I saw a woman at the gas station today who was the spitting image of Death of the Endless.
She must have been either Death or a hipster.
Either way, I was concerned.

I love Gaiman's take on Death. She's someone I'd like to get to know better.
