This is the tenth book in the series, but it's still exciting. I appreciated how subtly Cornwell made Uhtred's age felt. He's not as young as he once was, and while he can still outsmart pretty much everyone around, he's not always in the forefront of the events, and he lets his son do some of the more difficult actions.
I can't wait to find out what happens to him next.
pickUhtred is now back and master of Bebbanburg and his life‘s dream and wish has been achieved. This is book 10 of 13 and I am intrigued how Uhtred will fare, what challenges will be faced. Four more books in this series suggests that there must be. Cannot wait!
I've spent so much time reading for the last couple of months that I've forgotten to post about the books I'd finished. The best of which were Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and The Flatshare. I've nearly finished The Flame Bearer which is the 10th book in one of my favourite series, The Last Kingdom.
pickawesome it was complicated plan to take the fort but it worked, I like the imagination of the author.

pickI can't get enough of this series. In surprising moments, a flash of humor amidst grit. Prolonged war scenes wear on me, but I can't skip them because when I do, one of his friends dies and I wonder where they went.
Ok. They promised me that Uhtred would begin his assault on Bebbanburg to reclaim his birthright as Lord of Bebbanburg. Book No. 9 so it‘s about time.

pickI cannot believe I‘ve read ten of these novels. I might read ten more. I blame Ragnar and Floki for leading me to Uhtred and his quest to regain his ancestral home. I really thought this was the last book in this series and I would be free but Cornwell seems to have other plans. Oh well!
