It took me a long time to get into this but then I really wanted to know what was happening next. I can‘t help but like this series. Finished it tonight during #hyggehour

My next 4 books for #52bookclub24
I read book 12 of the Saxon Tales for a smelly book - lots of smells, especially in the London scenes.
Wide Sargasso Sea was kind of interesting but also difficult to read and overall a disappointment for me.
The Jókai book was full of twists and turns, I enjoyed it immensely (title translates roughly as Soul Tamer)
The Little Sister didn't quite hold my attention, but I guess I picked it up at a wrong time.

TheAromaofBooks I read all the Phillip Marlowe books a few years, and while I loved some of them, I wasn't a huge fan of The Little Sister. It lacked the dry humor of the earlier books in the series. 9mo
Librarybelle Nice choices for the challenge! 9mo
eeclayton @TheAromaofBooks to be fair, it was a tumultuous time period for me, and I was chipping away at the book a few pages each night, so the conditions definitely weren't ideal. Still, I had read other Marlowe stories that I enjoyed a lot more. 9mo
eeclayton @Librarybelle thanks 🙂 9mo

Some of the twists I saw coming, but it was still a very enjoyable read. I loved the character interactions, the humour, and the battle scenes were brilliantly described again. I look forward to the next installment of the series.

#12 of 13. This was good; one of my favourites. It has a shorter time frame and moves faster as a result. Uhltred and Finan are getting old, but still they rise, they out-think, and with fierce loyalty and astonishing luck, they win their battles. So glad I found this series. Uhltred and Finan will be two characters I will not forget. 4/5

Number 9 of The Last Kingdom series did not disappoint. 💕. It was nice to see that Uhtred was not rescued by an arriving army. Here instead they used their wit and connections. Fast paced, well plotted, likeable characters, and lots of action. I love this series.

Talk the talk. Walk the walk. Gotta drop this “I don‘t live in NYC anymore” weight.

Decided to save the final installment of Bernard Cornwell‘s Saxon Stories — War Lord — for this year. I will be sad to say goodbye to Lord Uhtred at this conclusion of this 13th novel. Lucky No. 13.

“Wyrd biõ ful ãræd”

Lord Uhtred is at it again — fighting to create a country that will ultimately swallow his kingdom. And Cornwell again masterfully writes battle scenes so well that the reader is transported to the front line of a medieval shield wall. He also intricately intertwines historical fact and people with the fictitious Uhtred to embroider the steadfast March toward the creation of Engaland.

“Fate remains wholly inexorable”
