The hubs and nephew are watching some show that I truly don‘t care about. I‘ve worked out, showered, and I‘m trying to recharge. I wasn‘t sure that I‘d really like this since it‘s not a genre I typically read, but I‘m really glad I gave it a shot! It‘s fun!

It was a long week & while I listened to an audiobook while I meal prepped today, I didn‘t get my day to chill and read like I‘d planned. So, now, my husband is entertaining our nephew who is with us for two weeks while I decompress in our bedroom with a bit of fluff reading and get ready to start a new week.

This is the first in the series, in this one Annabelle is one the first female students at Oxford University, she is also helping with the suffrage movement along with her friends. She meets the most powerful Duke in England and eventually they are attracted to each other and other problems come about from this. I really enjoyed it, all the characters are good and are some steamy scenes.

Cathythoughts Sounds good 👍❤️ 3y
readordierachel I loved this one! 3y

Dunmore has been added to my list of favorite historical romance authors! I‘ve loved all her books thus far!

It took me awhile to get into this one but once I did, it was a quick, fun read. The trope where the relationship starts on the basis of some sort of lie is not one I generally like, so I think that's where my initial hesitation came from. But I do like characters who can admit they were wrong and grow together...

It‘s been a long while I read a historical romance & I enjoyed this far more than I expected. I liked that it talks about the women‘s suffrage movement, women‘s position in society as a subplot. Interesting-a time when women were allowed to attend college,& rally to amend the Married Women‘s Property Act 1882. Slow burn romance, steamy scenes..not sure if it‘s over-done (I don‘t read enough historical romances) but fans of HEAs will be satisfied.

Cathythoughts Nice review Jessie ❤️👍🏻 3y
CarolynM Sounds good 🙂 3y

This was not as light of a Romance as I thought, but it is very historically accurate which was nice. A disgraced vicar‘s daughter who is on scholarship at Oxford meets a Duke and is tasked with trying to get him to support the suffragette‘s cause. They fall madly in love and many things go wrong. 3.5/5 stars. Read if you like historical Romance with a lot of realism.

“A league of extraordinary women” this first of the series centres on the suffragettes in England in 1879 and it had a distinct Miss Scarlett and the Duke ( BBC mystery) vibe to start. It‘s more historical romance. Decently written but a lot of sexy bits
I am reading the next one 🤣🤣 already

CoverToCoverGirl You‘re hooked! 🙂 3y

Does anyone watch PBS/BBC ? I loved Miss Scarlet and the Duke and this book/series made me think of that show so I got the first two books from the library. Pretty sure I will regret this and want to own them

Another #botm winner! I am not regretting my subscription one bit!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to the next story in the series! I liked reading about the time period and all the intricacies of the social status of women during that time. The characters were a pleasure to read. I loved Hattie and hope there is a book focused on her in the series!

mavey The third book is about Hattie! 4y

This one was really fun and was a nice mix of light historical fiction and romance. I liked that the characters had more on their minds than marriage or seduction or parties, had actual intellectual pursuits or occupations, and their concerns seemed real rather than made up hurdles to the main couple getting their HEA. Fun read.

I've done nothing but bail on books this month... there's too much going on as we try to figure out what school looks like in the middle of the Covid epidemic. I do plan on returning to both of these once things calm down a bit...

ShyBookOwl Good luck. I loved The Deep. 4y
