I‘ve never read “The Turn of Screw” so don‘t spoil that one for me.

“Florence & Giles” has a slow start but it picks up quickly.

A dark tale with no pat answers. In that it‘s probably also an homage to Henry James‘s tale.

Mehso-so

Ugh, so frustrating. Loved this book all the way through and then it ended without answering all the questions. Hate books that leave you wondering.

Edit: actually, the more I think about it, the more I realise that the answers were there all along, they were just all well hidden. On reflection, pretty clever book, I'll be thinking about that one for a while. Dark and twisty for sure

I don't read many mystery books (don't know why) but this one is my favorite so far. I loved the main character who has a passion for books but is not allowed to read and wanders around the mansion she lives in at night just to go to the library. Some things are left for the reader to decide/interpret and that's one of my favorite things about this book.

again, thank you @Librarybelle for hosting this giveaway!

“There i pushed together two of the big leather wing-backed armchairs, toe to toe, and nested me in them with two of the blankets for a bed and the third stretched over the tops of the chair backs to make a canopy.” 😍

So, for Recommendsday, I'd like to share this baby with you. It's a postmodern re-telling of 'The turn of the screw' and sooo good! #recommendsday

[DELETED] 2232195534 The Turn Of The Screw is one of my favorites. Creepy and very odd. 8y
Reviewsbylola That cover is very creepy! 8y
BekahB This has been on my TBR pile for way too long. The cover is so creepy. When I first bought it, before it found a place on my bookcase, I'd have to cover it up when it started getting dark outside. I can't take the unsettling stares of children at night. 😄 8y
GinaF1003 I'm listening to Emma Thompson read The Turn of the Screw, and it's getting creepy! 8y

Beautiful. Part Shirley Jackson, part Poe. Just the right mix. #gothicfictionrules
