Un viaggio avvincente attraverso le foreste dell'Amazzonia. Allende non delude e finisce per strapparmi una lacrima :)

Wildly inventive & totally unrealistic YA novel about two kids on an expedition in the Amazon. For YA, it does speak on topics of drugs, death, and treachery in a pretty matter of fact way, but that could be the translation. Overall, wasn‘t really my thing. #AuthorAMonth
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is about a boy who travels with his grandmother to the Amazon to investigate the legendary Beast. There, he becomes friends with their guide‘s daughter Nadia and a local Indian tribe and discovers a plan to exterminate the Indians. It was boring in parts, but the end was well worth it. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
Alternated between Spanish and English. I prefer Allende's adult novel, but I think kids would like this and it's apropriate.

This teen adventure novel by celebrated Chilean author Isabel Allende was not my cup of tea at all. I found the plot overly simplistic and the moral lessons heavy handed. I won‘t be continuing with this trilogy, but I might try out her adult fiction at some point.
#Rocktober Day 10: It seems few people are aware that Allende has a series of middle grade novels with a #WelcomeToTheJungle feel to it - set in the Amazon. Pretty riveting.
The first book of the Trilogy of Eagle and Jaguar.... Mmmm so and so.....

This pillow is giving a message to me! I've been in a reading slump. Just few pages daily. Tomorrow I'm going to a water park, and I'm hoping that hubby take care of the kiddos at least 1 hour to finish my current book The Book Thief.

This was the first in Allende's YA series, set in the Amazon rainforest. I read it years ago, but do remember enjoying it.
This series is one of my daughters favorite and has told me repeatedly I need to read it too. I just need to get my hands on a translated copy as I do not read Spanish. #womenintranslation #aprilbookshowers
I went to Portland and spent today in Powell's! Picked up some wonderful used books & a cute magnet! Loving it here. And the food is 👌🏻.
Started over breakfast this morning: salted caramel chocolate chip pancakes and scrambled eggs with coffee. Delicious, and I have leftovers for lunch!
Me encanto la historia. Tremendo desenlace. Pero el llamar a las personas todo el tiempo por nombre y apellido a veces me sacaba de casillas. Aparte de todo fue muy buen libro. Lo disfrute mucho.
Day 2 #booktober #bookssetinsouthamerica forgot I had this but City of the Beasts Isabel Allende #octbookchallenge
I consider myself a very diverse reader, however, when I saw today's #booktober challenge, I couldn't think of a book from South America. So, today's pick is a tbr #cityofthebeasts by #isabelallende
Time flies! Six years ago we stood in this epic line (second only to John Green) at the National Book Festival to get Maggie's Spanish copy of City of Beasts (La ciudad de las bestias) signed by Isabel Allende. She was so wonderful and kind to Maggie. Great memories.
