Heard the amazing Alan Gratz speak yesterday!!
Told in many voices -French, Jewish, American, English - this middle grade historical fiction is how I wished I‘d learned history. It gives a sense of the day without being terrifying. Kids who like action will enjoy this.
I thought that the pace was too slow and the characters were all over the place. But overall pretty good book
Just starting another war story an this one qualified for my schools battle of the books so it must be good
Gerne: Historically Ficition, War story
Date Started: Nov 20th, 2019
Date Completed: Nov 30th, 2019
How did you choose this book: I've took a liking to every book Alan Gratz has writing, so when I found this one, I knew I had to read it
Summary: Nations group together to take back the world from the Nazis. One day being the start of it all; D-Day. This books is about D-Day and all of the soilders who died in ww2.
#3 This book was one of the best books i have read and it will get me into the war genre a lot more it was perfect because it switched from person to person from a medic to a solider to even a spy but they are all going against the germans in order to win the war, if you like war, fiction many things in this book make it one of my favorite books.
This book was AMAZING, I loved the different P.O.V.‘s. The separate perspectives blew my mind. The emotion flowed just as well as the plot, and gave the book a feeling that I have not experienced in a book before. I usually do not like war books, but the way they made the entire book fall with in the 24 hours, made it such an action packed, page turner of a read. The only possible ‘bad part‘ of the book was that sometimes the book was confusing.
A fantastic book, it focuses on 4 main characters on the day before D-day, a spy, a medic, a paratrooper, and Dee a regular trooper. If you like books about wars/ WWII you will like this book. After reading this, I could tell that the author is very passionate about WWII with how much research he puts into his books
Are your ready for a good cry. It can not really be avoided with a Gratz historical book.

Allies, by Alan Gratz is a HF story about where different people were during D-Day. It is a good book for older students to read that can tie in with a history lesson. I would use this book as a LC for the
students to get together and discuss.

If you ever have a kid ask for a book that will make them cry, boy or girl, hand them gratz. Everytime!
