The concept of this book was very interesting. I also found myself CRAVING noodles every time I picked up this book. The history was interesting and the stories of the people she met along the way were fascinating. I enjoyed this book for a light read that was filled with historical significance.

The author starts out in China and follows the Silk Road west, cooking in different kitchens along the way in search of the evolution of pasta.

Now if a normal person was moving in two weeks they would probably hold off purchasing books until said move is complete as those suckers are a pain to lug ... I, however, have never been accused of being normal #bookhaul #goodbyedollarbookoutlet

In my hotel after the Women's March in Knoxville. Eating hummus (only vegan option on the menu) and reading until my reunion tonight.

A well informed look at the history of noodles and the culinary legacy of Marco Polo and the Silk road. But, more than that an intimate look at one young woman's journey coming to terms with what it means to be a wife, have a career and find balance in the modern world by examining relationships and women across many cultures. A dense slow read with a lot of detail and red but much to relate to.

I love books that take place in Asia, particularly China. They've always held a special fascination for me, and I hope to travel there someday. I've got a TON of these books! #septphotochallenge #setinasia #travelmemoirsrock

Laura317 @Leelee08 Me too! We have a bunch of books either written by Chinese, about China or about Chinese. I've been to China twice, and it's so in my blood that I'd move there if I could convince my family. 8y

Ok, so 98% of my books are used, so here's my entire shelf devoted to just travel/cooking memoirs. My used book addiction started as a broke single mom, but then I got addicted to the treasure hunt aspect of it! I buy new books if it's the new book in a favorite series, favorite author, etc. We have a lot of great thrift shops/used bookstores/library book sales in my little town. Used books=LIFE.❤️📚❤️📚❤️ #augustphotochallenge #usedbooks

I had such high hopes for this book since I love traveling and pasta! But it was very lackluster. Though Lin-Liu travels to many fascinating places it doesn't feel like she really experiences them, and she could have written much more about the people and cultures.
