I can't believe how fast November passed and how far behind I got with my reviews! This was a November #bookspin read and I found it an incredible and informative read. So much history! Highly recommend this one. #nonfiction @thearomaofbooks
A combination memoir of Liliuokalani, last queen of Hawai'i, and a refutation of the Treaty of Annexation of 1897.
A very important read. It provides a lot of historical context for the illegal annexation of Hawai‘i by the United States, but we also get a glimpse of the woman who was queen and of her life. Very dense, very Victorian, and very dry, but a fascinating read. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
My first read for #ReadingForMaui is Queen Liliuokalani‘s writing, pleading for the restoration of her kingdom‘s independence from the United States‘s annexation.
