Hope for Animals and Their World
Hope for Animals and Their World: How Endangered Species Are Being Rescued from the Brink | Jane Goodall
8 posts | 3 read | 5 to read
At a time when animal species are becoming extinct on every continent and we are confronted with bad news about the environment nearly every day, Jane Goodall, one of the world's most renowned scientists, brings us inspiring news about the future of the animal kingdom. With the insatiable curiosity and conversational prose that have made her a bestselling author, Goodall-along with Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard-shares fascinating survival stories about the American Crocodile, the California Condor, the Black-Footed Ferret, and more; all formerly endangered species and species once on the verge of extinction whose populations are now being regenerated. Interweaving her own first-hand experiences in the field with the compelling research of premier scientists, Goodall illuminates the heroic efforts of dedicated environmentalists and the truly critical need to protect the habitats of these beloved species. At once a celebration of the animal kingdom and a passionate call to arms, HOPE FOR ANIMALS THEIR WORLD presents an uplifting, hopeful message for the future of animal-human coexistence.

Every time I pick this book up I cry. You‘d think I would have learned by now.

Reading her chapter on red wolves to craft a nonfiction lesson plan regarding activism.

First Exercise Book down! Hopefully many more to come! This book is a little dated now but that didn‘t stop me from looking forward to hearing each different story Jane Goodall read to me as I worked my way through this book. It was very inspiring and gave me a lot of hope for the conservation field!

Making some real progress in the book! I think I only have about 2-3 more workouts before I finish it. I‘ve gotten through all the endangered species success stories and now listening to the bit on discovery of new species. Really enjoying the fact that Jane Goodall is reading it.

TheSpineView Good for you! I need to be using my treadmill more! 6y
Schnoebs @TheSpineView making it a designated reading time for me really helps to make me want to go on it more. Especially because I try not to read that specific book any other time outside of going on the treadmill. 6y

Finally getting back into exercising; maybe. Using this as designated reading time for myself 1-2 times a week. We shall see how long this lasts 💪

I've admired Goodall since I was 13 & came close to meeting her twice before my dream came true. The 1st time was at the OSU. I was visiting my sister and a couple of days before I was set to fly back I saw a flyer that she would be speaking there the week after I left. #ReadJanuary #signed 👇🏻

WanderingBookaneer The 2nd time was when I visited Singapore. I was excited to go to the botanical gardens and see where she had her office. But I googled it, she was going to be speaking there and hour before I landed. However, when I learned she was coming to Puerto Rico, I told my boss I was leaving early to go see her. I made it clear that I was not asking, but informing. My smile (I'm the first from left) says it all. #HeroWorship 8y

Zelma Fantastic! I got to meet her in college as well. I'll try to post the picture today. I was an anthropology major with an interest in primatologist and biological anthropology, so I geeked out a bit. Barely said a word I was so nervous. 8y
RealLifeReading That's so cool! 8y
WanderingBookaneer @Zelma : My friend Marta and I giggled like schoolgirls as we walked away. Jane actually stopped what she was doing to look at us and laugh. It was amazing. 8y
Libby1 When I was 6 I told everyone I wanted to be Jane Goodall when I grew up. 8y

One of my most precious books is a #bookaboutnature. I've loved Jane Goodall since I was little, meeting her and getting an autographed book is one of my most memorable moments. #readjanuary @RealLifeReading
