Not usually a great fan of short stories but I did enjoy this one, telling the story of a couple following them being bombed out of their house at Christmas during the Second World War. Very different to the Molly Murphy series!

A great story set during Christmas in war-time Britain. Compelling, with a happy ending.

so-soA quick Christmastime short story to help complete my 100 books in 2019! This one seemed hastily written, using dialogue to explain the characters‘ lives instead of more nuanced methods. But it was an interesting quick look into the challenges of the Blitz.

pickI am reluctant to like this book about a hard-luck couple during WWII. The woman was hypercritical despite having a home and a husband, which many did not have in London during the bombings. As the story unfolds we learn why she‘s sad, & then things go bad to worse. A hopeful ending for Christmas although I‘m still not loving these characters. #holidayread

pickA Christmas-y WWII short story from Rhys Bowen. I quite enjoyed this. Read in one sitting. A down on their luck husband and wife duo have to evacuate on Christmas Eve due to a bombing on their street. I won't give away what happens next, bc I enjoyed the adventure better not knowing what was coming.
