#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.13-15: First - Rowan is kind of a d*ck. I get that trainers are often tough - and he wants Celaena to grow to her full potential (for Maeve, not Celaena) but man. He‘s rough. Second - that creature reminded me of the Bogge in ACOTAR. I wonder if it‘s similar or related in some way. Chaol is playing with fire by putting off his dad. He‘d better watch his step. And just what is Aedion up to?

Littlewolf1 Celeana having to relive her trauma is harsh. I wouldn‘t wish that on anybody. She‘s grieving, she feels alone and she‘s been hiding herself for so long that she can‘t trust herself. Rowan is it much help, but I don‘t think he knows how to respond to the situation either. I didn‘t post on the last two day chapters, so I just wanna add that I too really enjoy the chapters with the witches Manon has always been my favorite character. 13h

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.10-12: we learn more about the community of Demi-fae where Celaena has been taken to train. Maeve is known to “collect” gifted fae and Demi-fae. What she does with them is a mystery. Maeve will swallow Celaena up once she sees what she can do with her gifts. We also find ourselves back with the witches - all together now. Their numbers have dwindled recently and their magic is limited. ⬇️

StayCurious Will they be able to control these wyvern creatures for the king? I wouldn‘t trust his majesty at all. Hopefully Manon is smart enough to keep an eye out. 2d

Considering that Celaena‘s parents were so against Maeve seeing Celaena, I worry this queen is trouble. Rowan has been ordered to train her - he‘s thrilled by the way - and I wonder to what end. Does Maeve want to use Celaena‘s power for her own gains? ⬇️

KadaGul @LiseWorks My sweet friend, I have a pile going for #LitsyLove, and it's been going for a couple of months. I love that I have a few regular people that I write to; it's so refreshing and fun. I do the cards and swaps as a way of decompressing from work. I'm finally coming to terms with the workload being more, not less, so let the fall season start. I'll have a month or two ✌️ to settle down. 3d

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.4-6: We meet a couple more new characters in the scary and badass Manon, and the shy healer Sorscha. We also get a look at how Aedion is when it‘s just him and Dorian (he‘s kind of a d*ck). Chaol is keeping his distance from Dorian for his own good- but Dorian feels a bit betrayed and alone. I know it‘s dangerous but I feel like these two need to find a way to talk and work together. ⬇️

StayCurious The king is up to his usual dark tricks so they need to stand together. Celaena is in fairie territory and they seem to know who she really is. It‘s safe to assume Rowan does as well. 4d

We meet an interesting new character in the Fae Rowan who is set to take her - probably to his Queen. Good. Make her snap out of her grief. ⬇️

StayCurious Then we catch up with a very stressed out Chaol and Dorian and Celaena‘s cousin, who is also part of the King‘s black ring club. If he is truly as bad as he seems, he has betrayed everything his family stood for. 5d

Littlewolf1 Oh man, Celaena is hurting real bad. You can almost feel how lost she is as she numbs her pain and sadness. @mcctrish the rings almost remind me of the rings of power from Lord of the rings. They‘re given as a gift and it almost feels like people look at them as a symbol of their status and power. A gift that the king has bestowed upon them. Who really pays too much attention to a status symbol. 4d

Read4life Those rings are definitely bad news. Celaena is in a bad way. Hopefully she gets it together before she does something reckless with no one having her back. 4d

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 14 Ch.16-end and review: these last chapters chasing Julianna were a fast paced ride with Eve so close but still a step behind. Julianna is cunning and clever and lucky as well. But she can‘t resist going after what is most important to Eve: Roarke. In this at least Eve is prepared and the two foes finally get their show off and Eve finally gets Julianna back in a cage where she belongs. I liked this instalment ⬇️

StayCurious I liked seeing Peabody‘s parents and seeing her grow into her own by closing her own case. I liked that she was finally in a good place with McNab. I liked seeing Eve and Roarke celebrating 1 year. I‘m looking forward to seeing more for our characters. 1w

Ddzmini I really enjoyed read a book with strong characters not only the main but the suspect as well.. yes Eve solved this and Roarke didn‘t die but the journey for the beginning was interesting with all the side stories, like Peabody and her family. Really liked this one and can‘t wait to start the next book 1w

LiseWorks I loved how we got to see Peabody and family more. And her solving a case. The Dallas chapters were tough. But Eve came through with Roarke by her side. The 1st anniversary was cool. 1w

TheAromaofBooks This may have been my favorite out of the series so far. Julianna was a fabulous villain, and I adored meeting Peabody's parents. I also loved McNabb being so supportive of Peabody while she was breaking her first case. Roarke and Eve having their romantic 1st anniversary was super sweet, too. Super fun read!! 1w

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.31-end /review: Wow, what a good ending! I wonder why the lady blue blood voted yes to save Blade? She has her reasons for being gracious. I look forward to reading more from this series for sure. The author did a great job of creating side characters I want to follow up on. Although I‘d say this was Steampunk-lite, it was an interesting world that the author created with a unique take on vampires I haven‘t read before ⬇️

StayCurious The romance was very satisfying and I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters. The action scenes were excellent. I do admit to being confused at the beginning about a few things but once you get into the story, it works itself out and I think would be easier in subsequent books as well. 2w

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 2 Ch.55-56/review: what a bombshell - Celaena is the long lost princess and heir to Terrasen. I think we all knew that, right? I wonder if Chaol will be able to keep her secret. Do we think the King suspects? Doubtful. He never would have sent her to Wendlyn if he did. I was sad for Chaol saying goodbye to Celaena - he loves her and knows he has lost his life with her. ⬇️

StayCurious What will he do about the wyrdkeys? He‘s a good man…but too damn loyal to his king and his hard won profession. And to Dorian - even though he never tells him things haha. Will he be forced to go back to his home at some point? How long can he hold his father off? I found this book does a good job of stirring things up and making you want to continue the story. Overall I liked this story. It‘s definitely a bridge to future events. It had good ⬇️ 2w

StayCurious World-building and some great action scenes and revelations that brought us further attachment to these characters. I found Celaena is harder in this book but still a sympathetic and strong character. 2w

mcctrish I‘m sad SJM killed off Nehemiah but we have 3 leaders ( if Chaol goes home) now that can come together in a new world. It really did set up more stories 2w

I could have done without Nehemia seemingly sacrificing herself for celaena‘s development. Archer‘s meddling was dramatic enough. But this was a very exciting installment, with the 3 separated I have no idea how the next book will unfold 2w

He loves her and understands that he can never be with her but he is willing to do anything to protect her. Even send her away and give up his life in the guard. But of course he can‘t talk to Dorian and explain so those two will be at odds. Sigh. I worry about them each being on their own.

#LittensLoveRomance Ch 28-30: this author is really good at writing action scenes. That duel kept me glued to the page! Honoria and Blade declaring their love for each other was very romantic. I was glad Leo helped Blade get in to fight Vickers - redeeming himself a bit with Honoria. I‘d like him to have his own story - and the brave queen as well! Now the duel is won but will they be able to just walk out?

This is just my opinion but he‘s pretty useless at everything so here‘s hoping he can at least keep a secret. Celaena is Fae - not just magical - but Fae. She‘s also very strong - when her magic isn‘t contained by whatever the King has done in her realm. Also, thank God they didn‘t kill the dog. ⬇️

So bad that Dorian is actually warned by an ancient king in his dreams to stop her. He takes the time to grab Chaol and this means they arrive too late - the portal is open and something has arrived. ⬇️ 2w

Poor Honoria - she‘s very conflicted when it comes to Blade. He scares her - he intrigues her - he turns her on - he pisses her off - what is a gently bred lady to do? Accidentally poison him. Whoops! ⬇️

StayCurious I know she is desperate to find the diaries but that‘s dangerous to incapacitate him when there‘s so much danger around. What if the vampire came or one of his other enemies? And now the Echelon are on the way. Blade has to feed from Honor to get back in shape. This should be interesting. 3w

I feel like the King is manipulating everything. Celaena needs to remain on her guard - she is being used. And if Chaol‘s father knew about his relationship with Celaena, you can guarantee the King knew. Things are deadly in that glass castle and Celaena is all alone.

He knew N needed protected, but he also was kidnapped himself at that time. Was he there when the singer was beheaded? Does he know how short fused the king is? I still want to believe in him, but I think I always pick the wrong guy. 😭 3w

mcctrish @Roary47 the internal threat to N was glossed over, the beheading of the singer was never mentioned again, none of the original 4; D, C, N, C have talked/explained things to each other altho‘ C did tell them she wasn‘t killing the King‘s targets. She tried to let them in - they all condemned her choice but offered no truths of their own 3w

mcctrish @LiseWorks C definitely has to be careful with the King. She needs to get over herself and talk to Chaol and Dorian, not for sexy times, but information. She needs to know who‘s mad at who and who‘s scheming ( Roland) and what is up with those rings ( N would have been so helpful I don‘t understand why she got killed off so fast) 3w

5feet.of.fury Archer has a lot of these deaths on his head too (the people who helped kidnap Chaol, he‘s the whole reason Chaol & Celaena weren‘t there when Nehemia died) and I feel like he got off easy. I was surprised when she didn‘t got straight after the king. I think the guy taken to the dungeons is taking the fall. 3w

What will Blade think when he finds out just how involved Honoria was in scientific experiments on newly infected people? Will he be upset considering Vickers experimented on him when he was first turned? And could it be that Charlie‘s father purposely infected him in the name of science? ⬇️

Roary47 I was glad she got to be with her puppy again. Chaol made a mistake in not telling her, but for some reason he is oblivious that the king is a bad dude and still works for him. Littlewolf1 @Butterfinger this is what I got from it. She willingly gave up her life to manipulate Celaena to her cause. Is it the right cause, yes absolutely. By the way, it was done or wrong. And though I don‘t think Chaol was the right choice for her, and I‘m glad he‘s recognized that he has lost her because of his own betrayal, she did irrefutably damage that relationship. 3w

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.7-9: The fight with the slashers and then the vampire-intense! Honoria held her own and can definitely use that pistol. I bet Blade will use those firebolt bullets to kill it. I‘m so intrigued by Will - a verwulven or werewolf. These different creatures (caused by viruses) are interesting. Honoria has to tell Blade about her brother soon though - before something happens. Or before that doctor tells the Echelon about him.

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 2 Ch.28-30: A lot to sort through in these quick and brutal chapters. I will say that I was expecting the death of Nehemia - that poor brave girl was crossing all the lines. The King is a despot and suspected her and he wouldn‘t let that go. She is now an example of what happens to people - even royals - who stand up to him. I was sad that she seemed to be using Celaena for her cause. For the greater good and all that. ⬇️

StayCurious I was also not surprised that Archer was more than he was letting on. I don‘t know how Celaena can ever work with him though - not after this. And she‘ll never be able to trust those closest to her again - she will be alone again and that is very sad. Although Chaol didn‘t know the King‘s full intentions he knew something that he didn‘t share. He‘s willing to run away and marry Celaena but he still keeps things to himself. 3w

Littlewolf1 The fact that Nehemia was basically resigned to her fate in order to push Celaena the way she wanted to go has never sat well with me. The fact that Chaol takes the blame for it as well, despite the fact that Nehemia and Asher are basically the ones that orchestrated it, is also crap. The king wanted her dead, but they knew it and allowed it to happen to manipulate Celaena to their cause, is BS. It was important, and sad, but still betrayal. 3w

Butterfinger I was mad at her yesterday, but I didn't want THAT to happen. Am I wrong? That very short chapter said queen- I assumed it was Elena. 3w

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.4-6: Long chapters but they had more interesting world building and added more layers to our characters. And we find that when blue bloods turn rogue they become vampires and are essentially monsters. Blade is constantly struggling to make sure he never loses his control - and Honoria is testing him. Of course she is. He wants her now, and more than just for revenge on Vickers. ⬇️

He was supposed to be killed but he survived against all odds. He is not a vampire yet but I think with all blue bloods there is the risk of becoming one. 3w

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 2:Ch 25-27: based on chapter 25, am I right in thinking it‘s Nehemia in charge of these rebels and behind Chaol‘s abduction? If so, that‘s cold. I get that she‘s in a very tough position, but to try to get Celaena to Hulk out by kidnapping Chaol is cruel manipulation. Especially after what happened with Sam. But the rebels would think this is war and difficult decisions need to be made. ⬇️

Littlewolf1 Man, those were the shortest chapters we‘ve had so far. This time it was really hard to stop at three, as I‘m starting to feel the heaviness of the story. The kidnappers are totally, correct, though. Chaol was very easy to capture, which has a big part to do with his current distraction. 3w

Roary47 I wasn‘t even thinking Nehemia. However, it makes sense. Chaol has a lot of faith in Celeana. I think it‘s sweet that the damsel is the guy. It‘s a nice switch. Like Chaol said the people that trapped him were cowards to capture him that way. 3w

A world where elite vampires or Blue Bloods rule London, except for Whitechapel - where Blade rules and protects those under him. Honoria now has his protection- but they both hold secrets and it‘s only a matter of time before those secrets come out and burn them both. ⬇️

StayCurious I think she‘s going to need his help with her brother sooner rather than later. But will she accept that help or turn away out of pride? 4w

But they‘ve basically agreed to run away together! Poor Dorian when he finds out. And Celaena and Nehemia fought about their views on what must be done - Nehemia wants her to stand and fight and Celaena doesn‘t want to risk herself and those she loves. ⬇️

StayCurious And who can blame her - we‘ve seen what the king does to those who stand up to him. Not everyone is strong enough to be a martyr. Dorian seeks answers from the crone at the carnival. She wasn‘t very helpful imo. Just creepy. 4w

Not only does she have to contend with the year she spent in Endovier, but also the death of her parents and all the atrocities she saw during that time. And let‘s not forget losing Sam in such a terrible way. She is really strong to be able to cope (and yes - cake helps). I wonder if Chaol or Dorian can ever really understand her. ⬇️

Butterfinger I think the men truly want to help. There's lust, but they back away when asked. Chaol knows she needs a friend, knows there isn't anything he can do. It's awful she has to bear it alone. The witch - that was a gruesome description. Plus, Maas didn't want us to forget the violence that Celaena can give. 4w

Read4life @Butterfinger I agree. I think both of the guys care and are at a loss as to how to behave. Not only do they care about her but they also are aware that they need to be careful how others see their relationship with her. Caring too deeply can put an even bigger target on her. 4w

Littlewolf1 Sometimes I forget that she is 18 years old. We judge her rash decisions because she‘s supposed to be this great assassin and she supposed to be so tough, but she is still just a kid. It breaks my heart for her, knowing what she had to endure just to survive. 4w

Or is he coming into powers he had buried deep? That‘s dangerous in Adarlan! I do think Archer is up to something and is not giving Celaena good intel. I also think Celaena was probably right in thinking the eye riddle has something to do with her amulet. She needs to trust her instincts.

I was intrigued with what Celaena found in the library. So many places to explore in this castle - as it should be. As for Dorian, I worry that they might start to try to control him as they were doing with Kaltain. He had a headache and he was surrounded by frost. What does that mean? Interest piqued.

Butterfinger Oh goodness, what a chapter. I really felt for Dorian. I think that "look" between Chaol and Caelena is from trust. She could not fully trust Dorian because he is the son of the brutal king. Will Rena's death propel more rebellion? Will Nemehiah feel it? I loved the image of the lighted grooves that was part of the art on the walls. That was cool. 4w

Littlewolf1 So when people ask me how I can read multiple books at one time, I always refer to the series. I remembered why, but I felt why today rereading these chapters. I love the series. It‘s still one of my all-time favorites and my favorite by SJM, but it gets pretty dark. I really hate that though singer died, but i‘m glad she had the strength to stand up to tyranny. I‘m also glad Dorian‘s ready to let Selena go, because he truly deserves happiness. 4w

Roary47 @Littlewolf1 I agree this is my favorite SJM series. I don‘t remember much of what happened when I first read it so I‘m falling in love with this series all over again. I‘m worried for Dorian, and Rena was so brave! Now the question is- did Archer set her up? Or is he innocent in the whole thing? And why did his client have that book? Too bad she couldn‘t have brought it to Nehemia to translate. Thank heavens Celaena made it to Chaol - one of the only people she could trust to help her.

Littlewolf1 She always tends to be reckless, and seems to have an “ I can‘t be touched” mentality. But that has gotten her into trouble in the past, and the reason why she lost Sam. While I don‘t like the fact that she got hurt, I think she needed a reminder that she is human and needs to be more careful, because she‘s not the only one at risk if she gets caught. 1mo

Littlewolf1 I still feel really bad for Dorian. He feels absolutely betrayed, and Celaena has never been really good at accountability, she‘s working on it, but she‘s not there yet. It‘s hard for me to discuss Kaitlyn though because this is a reread for me as I loved the series and I wanted to go through it again. But I will say she‘s going through it right now, and no one should have to live that life. 1mo

mcctrish @Littlewolf1 it‘s a reread for me too but I can‘t remember anything much. I want to say Perrington is still going to visit Kaltain to exert magical influence over her and keep her befuddled ( not sexually exploit her which it kind of reads like) @LiseWorks I feel like her addiction is in reaction the the pressure of the magic on her and I vaguely remember the king and Peri talking about further uses for K somehow 1mo

Butterfinger I know Kaltain was a brat, but I can't stand to see her so broken. I hope she is rescued before those headaches kill her. Before, the reader could tell she was being manipulated by Perrington. Now, they are being maliciously secretive with drugs or magic to keep her under their thumb. 1mo

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 2 Ch.4-6: I liked in these chapters how we got glimpses into Celaena‘s past - we learn a bit more about Sam, and a few other characters from the underworld Celaena was a part of. Poor thing is so against being a part of something bigger - she revolts at the thought of fate. That she could be something bigger than herself. She just wants to get her freedom and hide out for the rest of her life. ⬇️

StayCurious And who can blame her after what she went through. But life has other plans and deep down she knows it. Are we sad that she‘s pushing Dorian away? Are we worried about the trouble Roland will bring? Do we like Chaol for her? I‘m torn. 1mo

mcctrish Realistically Chaol is a better partner and could maybe help her in her quest, Roland is bad news. The triangle grates on me but truthfully they are all too young to be thinking about love matches 👵🏻😆 1mo

Butterfinger I think of them as three friends who care so much for each other. Goodness, she was getting mad at that doorknob, but it reminded me that we didn't have any more positive scenes of magic since those flower petals at the opening of her tent. Other than Nemehiah was doing. 1mo

mcctrish @Butterfinger yes, on all counts. So the magic in/around the castle was worked before the ban and is stronger so still present. Those onyx rings the king and Perrington wear must be similar magic. I wonder if the hit list contains anyone who has magical inclinations ? 1mo

Roary47 I agree with @mcctrish I think Chaol is a better more logical partner for her and I‘ve been #TeamChaol this whole time. I noticed that she stated she did miss Dorian as a friend. @Butterfinger I laughed so hard at the doorknob. It reminded me of the doorknob in Alice in Wonderland (So I love the meme). #IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 14 Ch.1-5: a lot happened in our first 5 chapters. Eve trusts Peabody with her first case (very exciting); Eve, Roarke and McNab meet Peabody‘s bewitching parents; and a killer from Eve‘s past who was just released from prison makes her return to killing by poisoning a man at his birthday party. It‘s interesting that we once again know who the killer is. But do we know her motives for killing or is she just crazy?

I guess I am squeamish like the boys, and I just didn't like the thought of a character who I like doing something so ugly. She seems to me to be scared of being part of any rebellion. I want to know why. Is it to protect her friends or what she experienced as a child? And, I further think she is being rebellious by allowing the targets to escape. 1mo

#LittensLoveSJM #TOG Book 1 Ch.52-end: Well, we already knew he was up to no good, but now we know that Perrington is in league with the King and they are up to their elbows in dark magic. No wonder the King banned magic in his kingdom, if only so he can be the most powerful person around. Celaena better be careful and so should Nehemia. Even Dorian needs to tread carefully where his father is concerned. ⬇️

StayCurious I look forward to seeing what happens next and what is in store for our characters. This was overall a good start to the series. There were a few weak spots - such as the tournament really not being used to its full advantage - but I‘m intrigued in this world and I like the main character and am rooting for her. I will post a schedule for book 2 shortly. 1mo

5feet.of.fury We‘ll see how Celaena can get out from under the King‘s thumb after his threats against her friends. Glad she broke it off with Dorian, although we‘ll see how that goes in the long run. Excited for book 2! 1mo

Read4life I agree that the ending left me wanting to dive into book 2. The tournament could have had better coverage in the story, but I like how SJM writes her characters both main and supporting. 1mo
