The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek: A Novel | 
pickI have been big a fan of Rhett and Link for many years, so it is not much of a surprise that this is one of the first books I have read in a long time or that I really enjoyed it. It is a cute Stranger Things-like story about a dark secret in a small North Carolina town, drawing on their childhood and hometown.
pickThis was my local library's book club pick for May. It isn't a book I was familiar with until they posted it.
In a small Southern town when kids misbehave they are sent to the local "reform" school, but the kids that make it out of the school have something not quite right with them.
The book is a fast read with some great characters. This was close to a so-so for me. I felt the ending was wrapped up too quickly and I wanted more explanation.
panThe book started strong. Three friends are introduced as hatching wild ideas and following their childhood dreams. Listening to Rex and Leif banter back and forth was comical and reminiscent of the 90s. But at times the humor fell short and the story felt disjointed. It was like different writing styles were competing.

so-soRhett and link tried too hard to be funny and it didn't work for me. For a book that's a little over 300 pages it sure as hell dragged on. There wasn't anything scary or dark in this. The ending was flat...like the earth... what happened to Ben? Why that epilogue that gave us no clues.. ugh

so-soMaybe it was the pacing that threw me? There were a lot of elements that I enjoyed in the story but also there was just something that really kept me from really getting into it to but I‘m not entirely sure what it was.
It‘s a strange 90s humor/horror story, that is set around a school that handles kids with behavioral problems and secrets of a small town that can no longer be contained.
Currently listening to. Not sure if I like it or not.
pickFinal thoughts! Overall a very fun read and would recommend if you want a fun adventure. Only major drawback is some pacing in which the book picks of speed but then takes a sharp turn into flashbacks or some other back story. I wish the momentum would have been consistent through out.

pick🌞🌞🌞🌞 This book is 324 pages, I read 80 pages between January 25-April 3. I read the rest of the book today. Once things started picking up, I couldn't put it down!! #catsoflitsy
This book did not disappoint on the ridiculousness scale.
“Tell me about the first kidney stone you remember.” - “Oh right ... I named it Mildred.”
“It wouldn‘t be polterdog if the dog wasn‘t poltered.”
“Can I breathe on your shirt?”
“Leif ... delivered one of his patented turkey mating calls, a sort of seductive gobble that he‘d mastered...”
“Later than night, Rex had found the camcorder exactly where he knew his dad would hide it: the not-actually-secret secret cabinet in the garage.”
“Rex looked around to see who was listening, realizing maybe he wasn‘t so different from his mom after all”
The scooter got cut off in my picture but there‘s a lot of scooter references that made me laugh more than I would have thought possible. 🤣

Upside down hearts seemed like the right way to go for the quote because I felt like these characters would love how weird it is.
I like the idea of this quote because as an introvert kid growing up I remember when I found people who were as weird as me and gravitating to them because I could finally connect with someone else who could understand or at least tolerate my weirdness.
pickI really enjoyed this novel. It was funny, it was creepy and it was twisted. You can see the humour come through in the tensest of parts. I was laughing at the most inappropriate moments, because one line was so carefully placed. I loved the characters, and I loved Bleak Creek! Overall, a fun, creative read!

I‘m really enjoying this book, but I‘m dying at the characters‘ names. Very, very close to the authors‘.... and Leif doesn‘t like tomatoes 😂😂
Any fans out there?? I‘m reading their book! These guys are hilarious and I‘m super excited about their apparently ‘super creepy‘ novel! Who wouldn‘t be with that title!!?? #currentlyreading
pickProbably my last physical library book for a while...a fun read, if a little rough as first novels often are. You don‘t need to be a fan of Rhett and Link to enjoy this, but there‘s just enough of them in the characters to make it sweeter if you are.

pickI‘m biased in my review because I watch the authors YouTube channel but I found this to be a great read. Easy to get lost in the book and feel like you were in NC with the characters.

pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I‘m happy to say I was not disappointed by this book. #RhettAndLink did such a great job capturing aspects of their childhood and weaving it into a great work of #fiction. It‘s a perfect blend of suspense, culty weirdness and good old #mythicality. If you are a GMM fan you absolutely must read this book. This book permanently has a place on my shelf and in my heart. 🙃💕
It‘s cold and raining here in my corner of the Midwest tonight and I start a new cohort on Monday for school, so I thought this weekend would be the perfect time to stay in with two of my favorite fellas ( #RhettAndLink ) and start this book, #TheLostCausesOfBleakCreek
