As I‘m from Chicago I enjoyed the overall story and references to many of the things of my city and its history.
I stopped by a different Dollar Tree today and found these. I think I might have a copy of The Mothers but I‘m not sure, this copy is signed though 🤷🏻♀️

This book was an ode to Chicago. I think my love for the setting made me enjoy this more than I would've had it been set somewhere else. It was a slow burn kind of read and that is usually not my thing. If you are interested in a quick read, then I recommend it.
Reading this makes me miss the city. I haven't lived there in 3 years but it feels like I was just there yesterday....
Imagine yourself having coffee with an old friend who has just moved back home & that friend is telling you about everything that happened, everything they saw, loved/hated while they were away. That conversation is this book, a meandering tale that weaves through the streets, the neighborhoods, the friendships, the dangers & more of Chicago. Populated with eccentric, fabulous characters this a slow but nonetheless enjoyable read.
Ok, having now worked my way through my most recent stack of library previews, it‘s time to return to my TBR stack(s). Looks like I‘m going to spend some time back home in Chicago with my next book.
I spent all day yesterday in downtown Chicago and had a wonderful time. Managed to get in quite a few steps along the way. Part of this step count was my visit to the American Writer‘s Museum. I highly recommend this literary museum to all fellow bookworms. #stepcount #Chicago

I go every year to Chicago for the restaurant trade show. The top two picks I took.
This birthday girls day is off to a great, literary start! 📚🌟😊
#TBRtemptation post 4! On the last summer day of some years ago, a young college grad moved into a small Chicago apartment by the lake. This story follows him the five seasons he lives there. He meets: gangsters, gamblers, policemen, a bus driver, a cricket player, a librettist, his first girl, a shy apartment manager, a wise dog of indeterminate breed, and many more characters. This is a love letter to Chicago. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Litsy help needed! Me and two friends are headed to Chicago this weekend. I always visit at least one indie when in a new city...but it seems like Chicago has many good bookstores! I've never been to the city! For those Midwestern Littens or other travelers, what is your favorite indie bookshop there?
I've arrived in Chicago for ALA conference! Never been here before, so I had to go to Willis (Sears) Tower first! This ledge thing is so disorienting! Anyone else here??? #library #librarylife #librarian #alaac17
I really don't need anymore books but... meh. 🤷🏻♀️
I'm headed to Chicago this weekend. Any indie book stores not too far out of the way (I'm staying in Hyde Park and will also spend a lot of time in the Loop I'd expect) that I have to visit?
#booktober best sidekick, eh? How about the talking dog that guides our main character around his new town? This book is of interest if you've lived here, but if not, I'd pass on it. It's very nostalgic. @RealLifeReading
