Grimspace is a kind of extra dimension that allows rapid travel through space but can only be navigated by specially trained carriers of the J-Gene such as Sirantha Jax, formerly a star of the Corp, now on the run. There's space travel, weird life forms & environments & hocus pocus about the joys/perils of Grimspace. Also romance. Jax is a great character, but not enough to overcome my lack of enthusiasm for Sci-Fi.

This was a perfect series for me. It had space travel, action, found family, and a little romance. I want to be Jax when I grow up.

Overall, I would say I enjoyed this novel. For the most part, it was well-paced, the protagonist was flawed but likeable, and I found the general premise and world building to be strong.

However, there was something about the romance plot that didn‘t quite land for me. It seemed rushed toward the end and characters‘ reactions were extreme. The ending in general was too neat, and I wanted more payoff for the climactic set up going into the finale.

Day 2 of #RomBkLove -Space romance
I think the first romances I read with aliens was Gena Showalter‘s Alien Huntress series. Those mostly take place on a future earth though. Other favorites are Jessie Mihalik‘s Consortium Rebellion, Erstwhile by H. E. Trent, and all Ruby Dixon. I LOVE the Sirantha Jax series by Ann Aguirre, but it is more science fiction than romance. Also Heat and The Last Hour of Gann both by R. Lee Smith.

I've been keeping record of what I read on goodreads since 2009 and was looking back at what I have read since then. I decided I would post my top 5 reads of each year this decade for the next 10 days.

Picked this one up at the library as a bit of a light, fun read. So far I'm zooming through it pretty fast... and I smell a romance approaching on the event horizon.

Nothing like going back to an author's earlier works to underline the progress they've made skillwise. This early book was fun, still enjoyed it (on a reread) but there's a few tiny wobbles here that I haven't seen when reading her newest series. 📈 😊

I enjoyed this story. It provided a nice escape from the daily grind:)

Hmmm, just can't get into this story. Maybe I'll try it again in a few months...

Hmmm might continue the space theme with this one next...

Love. Love. Love. This series. Action, adventure, romances in space...chicks that kick ass...what more could you want in a book. This is my second time reading the Sirantha Jax books 📚❤️

Loving this so far and this moment where March confirms his psi talent is effing priceless!

A pretty good space opera complete with bounty hunters and romance, strong yet broken characters, and space ship battles. A great summer read.
