For fans of rich and complex historical novels like Girl with a Pearl Earring or Code Name Verity, Laura Malone Elliott delivers the stunning tale of real-life Renaissance woman Ginevra de' Benci, the inspiration for one of Leonardo da Vinci's earliest masterpieces. The young and beautiful daughter of a wealthy family, Ginevra longs to share her poetry and participate in the artistic ferment of Renaissance Florence but is trapped in an arranged marriage in a society dictated by men. The arrival of the charismatic Venetian ambassador, Bernardo Bembo, introduces Ginevra to a dazzling circle of patrons, artists, and philosophers. Bembo chooses Ginevra as his Platonic muse and commissions a portrait of her by a young Leonardo da Vinci. Posing for the brilliant painter inspires an intimate connection between them, one Ginevra only begins to understand. In a rich and vivid world of exquisite art with a dangerous underbelly of deadly political feuds, Ginevra faces many challenges to discover her voice and artistic companionshipand to find love.

My February #BookSpin list is ready!

Exciting news for #BookSpinBingo for January: I got a bingo! 😄 This is an accomplishment because I don't know if I ever got one the whole time I've been playing. I might even get two if I can make it through my current book in the next few days! I even read both my #BookSpin & #DoubleSpin books. I'll post my board soon.

🎧📚I really enjoyed this book for the historical accuracy not so much for the flowery prose. A bit YA tropey but it was minimal enough that I still enjoyed it.

Read the summary, it‘s spot on.

Liked it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An interesting, fast read. I loved reading historical fiction as a child and teen, so it was fun to read it again. I thought the ending was a little rushed and sudden and some of the dialogue seemed too modern. I did enjoy learning new things about the Renaissance era, as well as the subjects of love and friendship.

Woke up to eight(!) inches of snow this morning. Not ready for all the shoveling, but I'm looking forward to three days off, reading, and pie.

I enjoyed this a lot! But it was at times difficult to follow especially at the beginning and I do think it sometimes reads a little cheesy. Sometimes the dialogue sounded silly. But I did like Ginevra as a character and appreciated how historically accurate this book seemed. (Continued in comments)

mskayla07 t was nice reading about a real person, although fictional does give a possible insight into the real Ginevra de‘ Benci. I did take an art history class in which I learned a great deal about the Medici so it was easier to follow along but if you haven‘t learned about the Medici at all than this might be a little difficult to follow along. Overall this was a very sweet and easy read. 3.75/5 7y

This was one of my favorite books of this year and I read it in January. I loved reading about women in a time when we really didn't mean much. I loved this book honestly and I'd definitely recommend it to anybody who loves historical fiction.

3.5 out of 5. This was a short, enjoyable read, but it was a bit slow at times. A world of historical fiction based on Leonardo da Vinci's portrait of Ginevra de Benci, Da Vinci's Tiger paints it's own captivating picture of the world in which Ginevra lived. Ginevra, by the way, is awesome.

This is the December "Get Inspired" box by @owlcrate and that candle (reading at the café) smells amazing! The little notebook for reading lists and reviews are great for no wifi moments. Plus, I love the to-do list notebook for my refrigerator.

pageturnersnook Where do these inspired boxes come from? I'm intrigued! 8y

First book I got from trying out Owl Crate back in December and still haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I've been reading a ton of ebooks lately so I decided to make myself a little bookmark for when I start reading this (hopefully soon)! Just an envelope and some pretty tape & voila!

This reminded me of my time I spent in Florence and made me miss it!
Ginevra was a great heroine and reminded me of the Royal Diaries and Dear America series I read as a preteen. So glad I was able to finish this great book in mostly one sitting!
