This Vicious Cure fell slightly short-of-fantastic as the finale of a trilogy. I tend to either get bored or find the story tedious after book 2 of a series. The story seemed to derail and felt drawn out. Parts were jumbled and moved too quickly while others lacked focus to move the story along. The writing style, world building and characters were kick ass, as usual.

It's not that the last book of this YA trilogy was bad. I was just tired of the characters by the end of this book. No reason not to finish them if you have read the first two, and everything wraps up nice and neat with just the right amount of twists. I think I'm just burned out on YA tropes.

For good measure, I am at 7.5 miles and 5 hours on #40miles20hours

KristenDuck That‘s awesome! 4y

I just loved the first two books of the Mortal Coil trilogy, but this final installment was sadly lacking. I found it predictable and there is a major plot hole that is impossible to ignore. I realize that our current moment may have had an impact on my current apathy for this book, but is was definitely partly the book as well. Disappointing.

#cutrentlyreading #notapreview Reading this for Reading Time review. Third in a series, so won‘t make an easy pickup if you haven‘t read the first two. #scifi #futuristic Also, the garden is relishing the two days of persistent rain.

Emily has delivered a brilliant conclusion to this trilogy with so many great twists. Perhaps the most startling thing in this book is how Lachlan, who was the big villain of the first book, turns out to be more of a pawn in the larger scheme. I‘ve loved this series from the start, and I can‘t wait to read whatever Emily does next.

I‘m two-thirds of the way through THIS VICIOUS CURE, and Emily keeps dropping some great twists. I can tell she‘s really pulling the pins on her plot grenades at this point.

THIS MORTAL COIL SERIES is smartly written, with an exceptional plot-line...it surprised me with the many twists and turns it takes throughout, it's definitely not predictable and I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who likes science fiction. The science in this series gets significantly more confusing with each book...but it may have something to do with the fact that I had more than a year in between each book.

AudiobookingWithLeah So, therefore, I recommend this series being read/listened to all in one shot.

Hey all, sorry I have ghosted much of this month but I should be back now. I did a mini trip to BN. I‘ve not had much luck there this month because they are getting ready for inventory and a massive rearrange so they have not been getting many new books. I did snag these two which were on my list. #bookhaul

AlaMich Rearrange? Hmmm...I‘ve read about the new BN CEO James Daunt, and how he wants to overhaul the chain. I wonder if that‘s what‘s going on at your store. 4y
LibrarianRyan @AlaMich I think that is part of it. In November they got this big new shelving unit which I hate because it blocks everything, and then they have taken the books off the bottom shelves in YA, and Sci-Fi but no where else. I know my store was hoping for a complete remodel and a bigger location. There is an empty show next door now. 4y
Hooked_on_books I‘m super excited for the tagged book. I‘m working on getting my hands on it! 4y
LibrarianRyan @Hooked_on_books I really need to finish book 2 first. But I wanted it on hand so I could be ready. 4y

While the first two books in the “Mortal Coil” trilogy are told almost entirely from Cat‘s POV, I‘m glad to see THIS VICIOUS CURE starts by giving Cat and Jun Bei equal time. That Emily is giving the reader a chance to see things through Jun Bei‘s eyes provides an interesting chance to learn more about her than the first two books allowed. #ThisMortalCoil #EmilySuvada

My preorder of THIS VICIOUS CURE finally arrived today! Looking forward to cracking into it. Wicket seems to grudgingly approve, despite the main character‘s name being Cat. #ThisMortalCoil #EmilySuvada #scifi #youngadult #DogsOfLitsy

Okay, Littens. My preorder for THIS VICIOUS CURE was estimated to arrive on Tuesday. Still not here. 😾 Is this normal with preordering a book? It sat in a UPS place in Reno, NV, for about five days before moving to the east coast. Now, it‘s sat in a Richmond post office for two days. WTF? #PreOrderBlues #StillWaiting

I loved This Mortal Coil, the idea is original and creative. I liked This Cruel Design, welcoming the characters back into the story. I enjoyed This Vicious Cure, but the least of the three; the story seemed to drag a bit and the character development lagged, but all in all the trilogy is a worthwhile read.

A fitting conclusion to what is definitely one of the most propulsive, twisty-turny YA science fiction trilogies out there. Like Shusterman, Suvada writes real science fiction, stories that ask big questions, that draw on today‘s reality to ponder what our world might look like in the future. This book requires you to pay close attention as the truth about who and what is behind it all is revealed. Once you start it, it‘s impossible to put down.

Sooo many great books published today. I mean, look at these two! How are we supposed to pick which one to read first?!? Two fantastic series—one mystery, one science fiction—and what promises to be two epic conclusions. The reading this week is going to be phenomenal!

Another Book Birthday I‘m giving a shoutout to is Emily Suvada‘s THIS VICIOUS CURE, the conclusion to her “Mortal Coil” trilogy. I‘m eagerly awaiting the arrival of my copy in the mail...hopefully, later today. Been anticipating this book for more than a year now. If you haven‘t yet gotten into Emily‘s sci-fi trilogy, then now is the time! #BookRelease #BookBirthday #youngadult

JanuarieTimewalker13 I‘ve been really curious about this trilogy! 4y
BillBlume @JanuarieTimewalker13 it‘s absolutely worth checking out. I‘ll confess that the amazing cover art by Regina Flath is what initially caught my attention, but after reading the first chapter in THIS MORTAL COIL, I was hooked. Emily really knows how to work a plot. 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Good to know!! I haven‘t finished a trilogy in years. I may have to try this for 2020. Thank you🌻 (edited) 4y

That feeling when I get the email that my copy of Emily Suvada‘s final book in her “Mortal Coil” trilogy is on the way to my mailbox. So excited for this book. I‘m purposely not starting any print books between now and when THIS VICIOUS CURE arrives, so I can immediately start reading it. This one is an early birthday present to myself. 😸🎉 #bookmail

MarriedtoMrT I still need to read the second book but I LOVED the first. 4y
BillBlume @MarriedtoMrT I‘ve been using the audiobook of THIS CRUEL DESIGN to refresh my memory of where things left off. I‘ll never forget how it ended, though. Was one of those cliffhangers that really worked for me. 4y

Just finished my third #24in48 book so thought I‘d post my favorite YA & MG for the Hour 30 challenge before I get up and walk the dog.
I also just got one of my coveted UK arcs (thanks, bro) to join my Mortal Coil collection; I hope I can get the upcoming ‘This Vicious Cure‘ arc from the UK, as it‘s set to come out in the Fall. I love this series and Emily so much! Great sci-fi.
When I was little tho, I loved Enid Blyton books 😉

Scochrane26 If you like sci-fi, have you read A Conspiracy of Stars by Olivia a cole? It‘s ya. 5y
kamoorephoto @Scochrane26 I‘ve not read that yet!! I‘ll have to check that out! 👍🏼💙 5y
