pickI don't read a ton of mysteries, but I can always count on this writing duo when I'm in the mood for one! This was the first in a new series, although the 2 main characters have been featured in other books before. An archeological dig, the Donner Party, murder, treasure... what's not to like here?!
pick🎧 I didn‘t like the narrator. Corrie Swanson who we met in Still Life With Crows (Agent Pendergast novel) is now an FBI special agent & working with the Nora Kelly. I miss Smithback. Well it‘s the retelling of the Donner party. A fictional missing 3rd camp, a treasure hunt, gory. Agent Pendergast shows up in the last 15 minutes. It was a really good book with poor narration. I‘d listen to another book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
pickA bit predictable at times, but an enjoyable story. I liked the technical aspects of the archaeological dig and the scenery as well. I‘m hoping it‘s a good introduction to a few regular characters.

pickOld bones is the start of a new series by Preston and Child. It centres on two female leads who have made appearances in their other books. It mixes history, archaelogy and adventure. The story focuses on the Donner party and a lost treasure. The history has been tweaked a little but the story is overall satisfying. For fans of the duo this won't disappoint and should gain some new fans. Sure to lead a surge in attention of what really happened.

Seriously though, this latest from Preston and Child kicks off a Nora Kelly focused series and features FBI agent Corrie Swanson in a plot centered around the Donner Party! If I‘ve got to be laid up, at least I can be thoroughly entertained, right?
